Alrighty. A two part poem for all you mid-evil lovers out there. Tis a story about a king without regard for the people, and how the people rise against the king. First poem is structured, second is freeverse.
The Tyrant King
What do you wish for my dear?
A tale to be told on tongues of old?
Well such stories exist in the memories of past.
So lend an ear as I you travel through time..
On the throne of decadent kings he ruled,
Through night of peril his sword stood cruel,
Armies at foot and hand, his name was known.
A crown to fear amongst this throne.
Across plains of battlefields he strode,
The iron fist of merciless gods betrothed.
hell fire rained such arrows divined,
His bloodlust growing each and every time.
He conquered the lands of east and west,
villages swept away in one single breath.
The dead piled high as the kingdom grew,
Chaos ran his subjects through and through.
A sea of fire and blood covered lands,
he’d yet to see his bloodstained hands,
The paint of life stained his sword,
A tyrant, rebel to his own holy word.
Soon his reign would fall at last,
For the hatred had grown from his past.
Radicals at arms with lust for justice.
They’ll strike true with hearts of credulous.
Many years past in war bitten nights.
The natives lands upheld by courageous might,
Passion grew with thoughts of freedom,
Only time would destroy this kingdom.
On homeland terrain bravely they fought,
The valor of the peasants could not be bought,
The King shuddered as his legions broke,
Here come the rebels on a midnight stroke.
Through open tunnels from beneath,
A storm of castle brought relief,
With iron shod blows the king would fall,
The protestants had answers to the call.
Away he fled for fear of death,
advancing savages with nothing left,
Hope in eyes against true oppression,
Later that night they’d celebrate succession.
Caught a coward in shadowed wood,
He hid himself the best he could,
But the huntsman found him with ease,
And so finally their vengeance would be appeased.
------------------------------------------------
A rebels victory.
Oh no.. what have I done?
My only love, only light is gone,
These hands cradled around her head,
Lips so bitterly cold and pale as dead.
Why must my sword be so cursed,
They killed her because of me!
Its my fault, these bloody gloves,
And all I wanted.. was her love...
The bastards, they will pay!
Vengeance a must in my eyes.
My sword will bleed them dry.
And resolution... will be mine!
I’ll gather men from the land,
Lead a rebellion to meet demand,
The king will die blind!
Blind to why his death was so.
“Come with me ‘O brother in arms,
Raise your sword to the tyrant king,
Cut down his forces, break his pride,
And when he flees.. take his life”
Men of honor, men of courage,
they’ll fight for freedoms touch.
By my side I’ll lead on to victory!
Failure is not an option.
Arrows spray and steel breathes fire.
Grass drinks of blood as brethren die.
Generals shout at ranks now broken,
The armies moral has now gone weak.
Push through the middle,
Cut off their head,
Flank from both sides,
And take the rear.!
Fear not death for freedoms come,
Fight with valor of a thousand suns,
Cut and slash your hate away,
Rip the enemy limb from limb.
Spare no one for their heracy,
let them know they’ve been judged.
Conquer all sides of the land!
Let our homes be burned no more.---------------------------------------------------
