Want your poem read to entire class?

Hello honorary members of AO, I was recently assigned a project based on war in my Social Studies class. Out of several choices I decided to collect twenty war poems. Some I have already gathered from the internet, however I would also like to give the poets of AO a chance to have their oppinions of war in the form of a poem read to an entire class (I have to pick five to read, which any given here will be my first priority), if you want yours to be please list them here, if more than five are given I will either ask my teacher if I can read more (which I am sure he will agree to) or pick from the ones that I think are best. But nevertheless any given here will be included in my project. Also note that your poem does not have to be your opinion, it could also be based on a scene from a war, an outcome, or anything else. But nevertheless it must be created by you.

D-Day

We signed up with friends,
With dreams of becoming heroes.
We laughed and kissed our loves goodbye,
Some of us assured them we would come back.
A promise that could not be kept,
Some even ask for their hand in marriage before we left.
Tears were wept as we left for the camps.

We rode the sea towards the beach,
It as though Aries, the God of War, was conducting this battle.
Planes flew by like the Angels of Death,
The bunkers on the skyline were the Gates of Hell.
Many of us shivered in the cold,
We were all talk but now it was time for us to walk the walk.
As the door fell down,
Bullets rain down upon us like steel rain.
We ran covering each other,
Yet each of us died on that beach.

We got the fence and even that seem daunting,
To go through and face our enemies.
And yet they were just like us,
Normal men fighting for their country.
Soon the stench of Death hung heavy in the air,
Even with the strong wind blowing,
It would not go away like the images of my friends,
Lying in the sands with their last thoughts.
It was probaly the promise they had broken,
The promise to came back into their loving arms.
My body ached with the gear I had on,
But I had to go on to make sure their deaths were not in vain.
They called it the D-Day landings,
I called it the the Day of Death.
