Glad you're here for the long haul

While I no longer consider myself an otaku, I have enjoyed anime in the past and continue to enjoy a few here and there.

If you happen to try out any of the series I suggested, let me know. I'd be happy to rewatch/reread them alongside you so we can discuss them and have general chitchat.

So let us know a little about you!

Yeah, I looked at the trailer for Mushishi and that looks really visually entertaining. I'm an artist from Maryland who studied at Towson for art. Right now I'm doing big anime oil paintings on self stretched canvas and wood panels. If you'd like to see them they on my flickr on the first page: Flickr: jordan.doctolero's Photostream. I'd like to set up a storyboard for an anime and write it. I am also planning to visit Japan for 3 months next year through an organization called W.O.L.F.I.N.G. where you go and work on organic farms anywhere in the world and the family lets you stay for free and feeds you for free and you work 5 days a week and then have 2 days to explore wherever you are. That's me in a nutshell!

Nifty stuff. You've got some pretty cool artwork.

Going to a new land and having someone else cook for you can be distressing, at least, to me. Man, I wouldn't wanna go out there and have someone cook for me-- what if they cook something odd and out of this world as a family delicacy, like octopus brain!

But, it truly is a unique experience to be completely out of your element in a non-hostile environment. You come out the end wiser and different, you know?

So you're on the order of... what, 24? 25?

then there is hell girl and hell girl 2

there is also elfin lied which is an awesome anime but it bit on the blood and gore side if you are into that stuff

if you're into romance you could try,

Inu x boku ss - drama, romance, comedy, and action. cute. (1st season out)
High School DxD - Action, Fantasy, Harem, Romantic comedy, Supernatural, Shounen, Ecchi (1st season out)
hagure yuusha no estetica - Action, Fantasy, Harem, Romance. (its new only 6 episodes out.)
princess lover - Comedy, Ecchi, Harem, School. Its got that love triangle you mentioned b4. can watch censored or not.

give them a try, all good anime.
