I believe that when we place labels on ourselves that we are asking for the very problems that go on in, not only, this country, but the world. I feel that people need to wake up and realize this. And I don' assume that, jus' because someone is "black,"that they are "African American." I assume that they are a human being, deserving of respect.![]()

Sanity doesn't exist, it's just an excuse cooked up by crazy people to justify their actions. My myspace page: www.myspace.com/joemage
Yeah... i think it's weird cause' before long we're gonna start saying, "fry my hamberger til' it's African American. lol. Anyways, I'm not black, but I'd feel awkward if I was and someone said African American. It's dumb. It happens.
seems like no matter what we say, someone is bound to feel offended! sigh.
Well, for myself I just usually call black people, black people but I think the people that do call black people African Americans are just trying to be respectful because not everyone thinks the term 'black people' is a respectful term either. I don't think they mean it to be stupid or offensive so I can't be too mad at these people and lets face it. If you see a black person in someplace in America then you will probably presume they are an African American but they might be an Indian immigrant for all you know but that doesn't mean that person should be condemned for thinking that person for presuming that because everyone presumes. You can think the same way of a white person too. If you see someone white in America you automatically assume they are an American but they might be a British person visiting America.
What Priestess Angel? I think black is a fine word to use! As is white, hispanic, asian, indian....etc. What else are you going to say in a sea of ppl of different origins?
"I think its that person over there in the white shirt?"
"what everyone is wearing a white shirt"
"no the person with dark hair"
Come on people. Soon your going to say. "You cant call her a woman! That's sexist!" What the hell. We were made different to be different.
