Well I never had a cell phone in school, and I seemed to have had a hard enough time keeping my grades up. So did my classmates. Infact I still dont have a cell... Imangane that![]()
Cell phones should be allowed if there are rules. For one thing teachers don't need to take them away and them give them back after class, that doesn't do anything at all. Students shouldn't be idiots about it and take pictures every five seconds or play games. Its funny how phones aren't based of calling people anymore. Its all about all the other things you can do on a phone, although I am not complaining.

... Not Ever Again...
It shouldn't be used in school unless its a emergency. I would say just keep it hidden and don't use it in front of teachers.
Even with the no cellphone policy you're not gonna expect kids these day not to have one and not bring it to school. Unless the school will go as far as search every single student when entering the school building. So just keep it out of teachers sight and don't use it during class.
My high school had a no cellphone policy but most teachers are lenient, they would just tell you to put it away if they see it or else they will confiscate it. If it rings during class, it will depend on the teacher, but most just tells the student to turn it off.

Every coin has its flip sides...
Let's start with the advantages: -
Mobile cell phones are very handy in case of an emergency. If there is an accident or an incident the person could call for help or advise and so on. It's small, portable and it's a good time pass as well. With the games inside it.
Stupid ball game >.>
Anyways they can't always be used for emergencies they can be used to impress but it's upto you
You don't have to carry some other devices like an I-pod to listen to music or watch videos, nowadays mobiles have internet, GPRS [or was it GPS?], games, enough memory for videos and music, SMS and so on... and also instead of looking for a phone booth in a street it's better if you have a phone. Easy.
Disadvantages! :-
The electromagnetic waves [or some other >.>] interfere with our own brain waves and cause headaches and in some cases, tumour in the brain.
Besides that mobile phones are easy to steal, get broken, too many useless features in them... and with with the internet it's being mis-used by teenagers and adults as well to download "bad" stuff from the net. And the can send it to other phones as well by infrared or bluetooth [sp?] and yeah... so on.
Okay, let's not be rediculous, hmm?
Cellphones are very important. They can save someone's life. There is no reason a student should not be able to have his or her cellphone with them in class. If it's off or on vibrate, then I don't see a problem. Now, if the student is text messaging while their class is in progress, then that's an entire different story. I believe students have a right to keep their cellphones with them, wherever that may be, as long as they're following school rules and guidelines... In some cases, there could be a school shoot-out, which unfortunately is starting to happen often now. What then? Are all the kids going to die because not one has their phone with them to call for help? Or if an emergency happens..a student has a seizure, and for some reason the teacher cannot get to the phone... another student can take out their cellphone and call for help. I think it's all right for students to have their phones with them in school, but as long as they abide by the rules.
Cell phones are banned from school because it distracts the students from their studies. However, students have defied this rule and still bring their mobile phones to school where there are strict teachers who confiscate it if it's seen or ring suddenly during the lesson.Teachers are allowed to do this as they are obliged to follow the rules.Phones have been targeted for theft hence the reason that it is banned. But yes,it has its purposes such as in emergency as everyone would say and it is convenient to contact people with it when you are bored. The pros and cons of mobile phones are balanced.
