Re: Are the censors slipping up or helping?

I agree also that the censors are weaker than earlier times & nowadays it is easy access to mature content...

That is why I can understand where Atomik & others are coming from when they stated so... I also believe that we as <some> people have an over-bearing protectiveness for the children & younger generation (at least I would like to think so & not the only 1) that we would bring up such conversation/talk to try & mininumize &/or find a solution to mature content easily viewed/heard to the younger audience...

But I still say it starts at home first & with the parents...

Of course! It HAS to start at home. If the parents aren't teaching kids the difference from right and wrong, if nobody's telling kids what to do and what not to do, then there's really no point for cencorship. But if the censors are gonna tell us what we can and can't watch, then they should stick with thier original guidelines, not let certain things slide and help come up with new ways for parents to prevent thier kids from accessing mature content.

Sure, you can get the V-chip, but kids have friends with parents that don't care (at least 8 out of 10) and that will let kids watch whatever they want. You can't control other parents and not every TV has a V-chip. I guess what I'm saying is that both parties are responsible. Although it's the cencors more than the other half that's makin' the most mistakes.

Re: Are the censors slipping up or helping?

The world of media is constantly changing and each generation becomes more bold, I want to say almost liberal, but I know that probably isn't the right word for it. I would have to say that censors are not really doing the job that they were made for but soon we will probably have no need for them because people are being introduced to everything that is being censored at a much earlier time in their lives so they will be more open to accept what they see and hear.

That is so true. In the past you couldn't show bras on TV, same sex couldn't kiss, no bad language at all, and you didnt see all these dam ads on tampons, viagra, erection dysfunction drugs, etc....

The media is so bold anything practically goes now.

I hate those commercials!! Like I wanna hear about someone's bleeding vagina! Totally uncool! The STD commercials are worse! Who the hell runs around town telling everybody, "I have genital herpes"? And they're PROUD of it! Ugh...

If I want to hear about genitals, I'll read a damn Hustler article!
