Censorship is when something, or a part of something, is removed for the sake of security or political correctness. Many things in modern society are censored. This includes newspaper articles, news broadcasts, television in general, music, video games, and also anime.
In recent months, a danish cartoon contained an image of Muhammad, and a riot insued. This has brought the issue of freedom of speach into debate recently. Do you think that it is right to censor anything in order to keep from offending someone, or should the right to freedom of speach override everything else?

We all know that S.. is very widely availible on the net if u wanna see some u can always download some so yeah censorship can only be applied to tv but then again this is a big problem just like copyright.
If u go to the torrents u can download everything your heart desires u just need someone to seed it.U know all this censorship is a very good idea like everything else ppl put in to place to try and prevent crime and stuff like that but i get the feeling that even if they put in a law the ppl just don't care they just do what they want so yeah put in censorship it won't stop most ppl wanting to see uncensored stuff like naked fotos of celebrities or whatever.

Does it realy help putting it in or is this just a thing to scare the not knowledgable ppl away.
the funny thing is i spoke a oke the other day and we were chatting about tv, movies and stuff and i mentioned if he doesn't find a movie download it there is sites that charge u $9.99 a month subscribtion and u can downbload as much as u can.I actually had to show him he did not believe me.So yeah copyright my butt.

A level of censorship is always required in stuff thats violent of something like that but newspapers and talk shows shouldnt be censored otherwise thats taking away our freedom of speech and i think that the muslim community took things too far with that cartoon its not really that bad and wasnt incredibly offensive

Censorship is determined by what the content is and what type of people will be viewing it. This is done to protect people from being offended in anyway. Sure, some of us could care less about what we see or hear but there are people out there that are really sensitive. It's done for the best of everyone's benefit...

So my conclusion is that censorship is good.

Heheh it's funny today in history we where learning about world war one. One of the years in christmas day British and Germans started to get along, but the british politicions censored that pic for propaganda purposes.

I think that one photo and that passage out of the diary about christmas day could've changed everything in a good way!


But I think censorship is a good thing these days, so many sick things, it can still be seen on the internet though so no one wins!

But "censorhip" reminds me of Siddartha the Buhda, he wasnt allowed to see the outside world because his father didn't want him to be a religous leader, but 20 years later Sid did see it, and somehow was worshiped like peaunt butter and jam! I say this cause It really makes me think about revelations and what it can do to someone.

I dunno maybe we should see everything, the truth.

Now lets get to cernsorship in Fiction and TV

Yes theres things that should be censored in the day, but after 19:00 or 20:00 it should'nt be censored at all, it's either this, show an uncensored programe or not show one at all!

I suppose I should hint at my own views of censorship, seeing as how I asked for other's opinions...
I have mixed feelings about censorship. I believe some things should be censored, such as confidential government information, while other things shouldn't. I don't believe it's right to censor a show because it's graphic or has bad language. While many shows have been blocked from the air entirely because of these problems, I believe the responsibility lies on the parents to make sure their children aren't watching something they shouldn't. As long as the tv station doesn't air Noir directly after Barney or Sesame Street, and as long as there is due warning about the contents of the show, then I believe that entertainment media should be left alone.
News is a different story, though. I have seen far too many tabloids featuring Brad Pitt's "New Love Interest" and how much weight Jennifer Anniston gained last month to ignore the necessity of censorship. Sometimes, the news can go to far. Censorship is necessary to protect those who are spoken of.
