Its not unfair at all though, you supposedly would be more mature by 18 than in a previous age. Its for the best and it also helps parents to keep up with their kids for a little while longer. |

Newbie | Re: Changing Driver licence age In my country, the age is 18. But for frog knows what reason, they had this crazy idea to make it 21. But that didn't work, any sane human, even humans like me, knows that it won't work, haha. Good for you guys, at least you can see the light of the lisence earlier than us poor people over here. |

![]() ![]() Credits: 873 | Re: Changing Driver licence age I hate to say it but the people who push for this in any country are old farts that think ang means skill not time. neveselocin think for a min. if the youth can drive then they can't hold a job if not in walking distent from there home, that means less employment time means less job training means less money for colege for thous that pay out there pockit. And now for the companys that hire these kids like target. Most of the people that close are minor under 18 most have car to drive home thank to having a licence and that means less people work at these stores and that will leed to an econical problem in a very short time. Think befor you leap. And for information im 20 soon to be 21 in march

Diamond in the Rough | Re: Changing Driver licence age I think that young drivers are definitely not the problem we should be concerned with as far as accidents go. If the government thinks that the driver would be irresponsible just because of age, they are dead wrong. How many drunk 40's 50's and 60 year olds kill people just because they thought they were sober enough to get back home? Sure, there should be a set age limit, but what if your 14, tall enough to see over the steering wheel and fairly responsible? I know its virtually impossible for a government agency to determine responsibility levels at that age in particular. That is why its more of a "What if" thing. Sadly, a lot of people are not honest, and that screws up the system. So to make sure we have responsible drivers, they should keep it at 16 (im from MN) or even move it up to 18. |

wtf mate? | Re: Changing Driver licence age Quote:
First of all I agree with you about the drink driver age group - it happens at any age. Infact I found this article which shows that young drivers are less likely to drive drunk.(Though I do question the how the study was done, I just agree out of pure observation of my peers) But young drivers aren't the problem? I disagree. I've seen to many young people kill themselves on the road, simply because they are driving to fast, or they have a car that is way to powerful for them or maybe just pure inexperiance. For some reason at our most young drivers think they are bullet proof. I admit,I certainly thought I was, before I had a crash ( which turned out, It wasn't my fault). You get the feeling that "it will never happened to you", but it can, and it does. And no the government isn't wrong, if you look at statistics, you'll find that most accident occur between the young drivers age. Why do you think Insurance companies charge through the roof if your under the age of 25? But no, don't up the driving age. Keep the learners permit at 16, but allow 2 years for young drivers to get there "experiance" (or as much as they can)and get there full liscence at 18. I don't want to see anymore of my fellow young drivers being killed because of inexperiance or stupidity.
