I was shocked when I walked upstairs and found my five-year old little brother playing a computer game I had not seen before. Me: "Hamza, what's that?" Hamza: "Gaaaame ^o^." Me: "What game?" Hamza: "New pokemon game ^_^." Me: "Where did you get it from?" Hamza: "I doooownload it ^_~." Whereupon I proceeded to WTF alot in my head. He had apparently opened up google by typing in in the URL, typed pokemon and surfed the sites to find one familiar to him: one he had seen his big brother downloading a game from. Then, on the site, searched for a pokemon game he had not seen before and pressed the download button. WTH. We have to now teach our five-year old little brother, who just started kindergarten,to not download from weird sites, fearing he will unknowingly upload a virus onto the computer. Five years old. He learned to type before he learned how to write out the alphabet by hand. I'm looking forward to seeing our world in the future when these little ones are grown up and sharing their talents with the world. Btw, I think that many of you are mixing up children with rebellious teenagers and identity-seeking pre-teens. Is it one or the other?

See, you here of kids playing video games when they were 5, but what happend when our parents were 5 yrs old? my mother was no where near a screen she was always out playing and being energenic! Now days she is still ful of spirit and has great hopes for her future, but kids now days, i'm not saying all kids but a majority of kids, are over running stuff like the stuff they own, if you have one really good thing your going to want something more and better the next time. It's not how the kids act its how the are raised, most parents raise them that way, but then agan some kids get into situations where they have to fend for them selves and there fore 'grow up' too fast, I think that is where they are gettin that from. Say a kids mother was abused by her husband, what is the kid going to do, either 1. Fend for them selves and see that what daddy did was wrong and learn from his mistakes, or 2 take on the actions of what daddy did and then they grow up thinking that that is the right way to do it because no one taught them othewise. I really now that i look at it dont think that that was the message that you were impliying, My bad. I do hope that i provided some sort of good imput! ohh and one more thing, mainly kids are just reflections of their parents or guardians, and not just scociety, the media does have an affect, but it wont if the kids know what right for them. which brings up another topic, how do we know what is rightand wrong for our kids? what do we do when they leave the house and go into the world? I dont know do you?

But either way I think kids get it way to easy now adays, like when I see a 9 year old with a $250 cell phone or Ipod, heck the most expensiver thing I ever got for my birthday back then was one of those old gameboys (first generations which I still have by the way) and now they get things like computers, lap tops, ane all that. My couson (17) he works for all of his stuff his parents make him work to pay off what he wants, my dad always told me that when you get it yourself you respect it more becauase you earned it, I belive him, either way the kids nowadays are spoiled, and seem to think they can get away with everyhting, like drinking, and stuff like that. (mainly why I stay indors) lol.

![]() Credits: 23,008 | Re: Children of Today The children of today? They make me afraid of the adults of tomorrow! I mean, look at all this foul language and lack of respect! And then, looking at everything that's popular with a lot of the youth these days.... "Cool" skepticism/denial, idiotic "liberalist" (for lack of a better word) views... Nine-year old girls are calling their mothers words that probably they shouldn't know at such a young age. Twelve-year olds are talking back to the adults that are trying to make society work. Younger and younger the youth try to "fit in"... Makes me feel disgusted. And then there are those mosquito ringtones that are gaining popularity in my community these days... My ears are extremely sensitive, and those high-pitched screeching sounds hurt my ears... And children in western society are definitely not as thankful for what they have than they should. They take everything for granted, they think life is served on a silver platter... They're totally oblivious to the fact that they'll have to work for the things they want, and they're just slacking off. It's all degrading society... And eventually, not only will they be stuck in a rut, everyone else will be, too! Ugh! Practically anything anti-society is valued in most of today's youth! I understand the urge to break away from a "greater power", but really, what the youth is doing is harmful to both sides... But the children of today aren't the only ones to blame. Have you seen their parents? Spoiling them, spoiling them, spoiling them... Parents are being influenced by the youth's peer pressure. Cell phones, iPods, make-up, clothes that are "in"... Why not teach them to work for the things they want instead of rewarding them for even existing? if they work, everyone benefits; the parents and the children. If they just get gifts for the heck of it, it's not helping anyway... It's giving them too much confidence in their "power" or something like that, and then, society will suffer, eventually, eventually... And then the media and commercial industries are taking advantage at all this, this emerging conformist culture and strenghthening it, ugh... Sorry if I sound a bit extreme. I am feeling a bit cranky.

I know that some people can class being an adult because they pay bills etc and it is a mature thing. But I feel that being an adult is about how far you have come mentally. Showing the maturity of your age and being able to know what is best in certain situations that arise.
