I say he deserves no leniency. He didn't kill the official because he was corrupt. He did it for money. This guy is not a hero he is a hit man. If the circumstances were different I would say otherwise.

I dunno......This is a classic case of the old "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" saying.

This guy seems to have made himself a great PR campaign just by killin someone a lotta people hate. Sure he got paid, but apparently, he took down an oppressive power of the land.
This guy will probably die, sure, but in the end he'll be a martyr folk legend. They might be better off keeping him alive.

Y'know, a lotta heroes of popular legend follow the same pattern of action, ironically enough. Think about it. There's plenty to choose from.

    *Walks in*

    here is my take...

Killing humans is wrong regardless of the reasons, but I understand why he did it and I think he really doesn't deserve to be killed or imprisoned for 40-50 years. As for the money he probably only was givin the money because he would have to lay low for awhile but i guess that didn't work.As for what one of you said about there being a better way to remove the corrupt official, there really isn't.The only way to remove them is usually by illegal means otherwise its nearly impossiable to remove them.

The kid did a bad thing, but i understand why but its still doesn't justify what he did.

    *sits down*

I live in Chicago where corrupt officials rule, but we don't go around stabbing all of them. Granted I don't know what the official did exactly, but as aceman67 said:
regardless of what the person who was murdered did, murder is still murder. If you can't handle the punishment for doing something, then you shouldn't do it.
And to throw in some philosophy, the death sentence is the easy way out, if he spends life in prison he has time to actually reflect on his actions.
