Ahh, you are absolutely right...... the net didnt really start those crimes, it merely aids the criminals by making the job easier.

However, situations like pretending that you are a young good looking 16 yr old guy, when actually you are a lousy pedophile, to catch some young girls off guard is still quite a nasty idea brought about by the net >_<

Im not really against the whole internet idea and all.... but, sometimes I ask, is it really worth the risk?

I don’t think the internets a bad idea. Because of it there’s more knowledge people can access raising the bad higher just like books did. True there’s risk but that could be said for everything invented throughout history. As for children getting porn. Lets be a little truthful about that. If they want to see the opposite sex nude they don’t need the internet for that just another child how will play doctor with them. For instance just yesterday a friend of mine said when she was young they played a game called Seven minutes in haven. It’s like tag but when a boy or girl caches someone they can do whatever they want to them for seven minutes thus the name. I’m sure you get the idea. As for how this is relevant. Well lets just say when she is a mother now and when she was playing this there was no internet.

There are always negative and hazardous situations or results that are produced by something that is meant to be helpful or positive, and in many cases actually is. For example electricity, it was created in order to make peoples lives more convenient and less stressful. Thoug many people have died in the process of working with electrical appliances, electricity is still worth having around due to its overwhelming convenience. The same goes for the internet.

    The internet

    lol.
I love the internet it is definitely worth the amount of money i spend a month..so in the light of Porn pls that is just fawlty.Their is alot of knowledge on the internet and the Forum sites make it more interesting aswell because whatever your flavor u can get into a forum where ppl share your interest...

I love the way u can get on to the online gaming and before u know it 5 hours went by without u realising the time as i know it take about 5 hours to play 18 holes off golf so yeah i prefer the online gaming not that i don't like the outdoors but i can't play golf.... like Ernie Els lol.

Their is a negative side to everything that we do to have fun and some not so profound as others but then again if u learn the ways of the negative u know what to protect yourself with and how, the fact that they can hack your computer and get info is BS.If they want any info on me they must not look on my computer it is not their..hehehehehehehe!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a external hdd and all my info files and stuff is on their the other stuff on my computer is mail adresses and small, uninformational for them. lol
Learn to protect yourself and your DATA and u will have more fun on the net.. get a firewall aswell i can recommend one firewall but i see they discontinued it.
So yeah mine still works 100%.
I will have to check for a new one when that one does not work anymore....

The internet is for porn... there's no real way to refute that... i mean, what do you think people do AFTER they're done posting? send an e-card? i don't think so...

Anyway, the internet is technology... and the thing with technology, is that no matter how great it is... it either makes us less human or interact less with hunmans...

the internet is one... television... movies... blackberries (the phone thing AND the fruit XD)... TEXT MESSAGING... the phone... i think it's all a government concpiracy to maniupluate our minds into something really cool sounding... but you know...

Hmm. This topic wins the internets. If it's ok for Al Gore, it's ok for me.

    *points at Spymonk*

It's also great for finding hot goth pictures of vampy Kate Beckinsale.

Is the internet really a good thing?

Sure, the net is helpful in a way that it is a fast-paced ready-access to various activities such as information on certain topics, email, contact with friends, online games, online dating, shopping, and forums such as this one.

But does it bring more positive effects than harm? Harm, such as the arising net crime problems that people all around the globe have been experiencing.

Viruses and bugs that provide ready access to personal information to hackers. Children with ready access to porn sites.

And even such problems as the obsession with computer games.... people who spend their days tucked down there in a corner in the basement playing Runescape or whatever online game.

How are your views on this topic?
And if you were allowed to choose... would you rather have the internet or not?
I think that because the internet is getting so widely used theses days, hardly anyone will soon remember life when there was no internet and that people could only communucate via telephone or word of mouth. That fact the internet has helped people get to know people in other countries, to me , is concidered a good thing because I have met so many cool people online that i would never have been able to meet offline.

However, as far as online gaming goes, my brothers are addicted to Counter Strike Sourse and play it everyday when my little brother gets home from school. To me this is a weird thing because they can play games offline and still have fun its just when they are on the internet, their rage levels are increased because perhaps the discrimate against other players from different countries. I know that they don't do it all the time so its so bad but they still get raged when the get killed and start having a screaming session at the monitor hehe.

Although if it wasn't for the internet there would so many things we would not have been able to do. Like have more access to information about certain topics, find cheaper prices for things one is wishing to buy, Communicate with friends more easily and with other family members who in a different place, and lastly to perhaps find someone they can get close to. Because the internet is has become a populated sourse of nearly everything. Its seems that you can now do anything online from Shopping to watching someone walk in a high street on CCTV cameras.
