I mean if you have a couple glasses of wine at a restaurant, shouldn't land you in a DWI charge. Also not everyone needs some program when charged with a DWI. Not all of them are drunkards, some of em just had a little like i said at a restaurant.

wtf mate? | Re: D.U.I. & Sobriety tests ^ I was going to say exactly what Jepray said. Sure some people feel the affects quicker than others, but you have to draw the line somewhere. As I said in my first post, we've all heard the stories of the person who only had a few to drink felt sober, drove, then ended up having a crash resulting in some one seriously injured or killed.

![]() Credits: 25,638 | Re: D.U.I. & Sobriety tests Look I don't want anyone to take this personally. G_d knows I got in a car after being out all night at the clubs, but I never myself drove while intoxicated. But about 4 years ago now, I was driving to the comic store to pick up my manga & comics (coincidence). It was about midday on a Saturday, on a busy stretch of road. A driver, who had been drinking, came out from a side street at a light. Her car clipped the back passenger side of my car. She hit near the gas tank, lucky the car didn't blow. She sent me into a spin. Having never been in an accident since I was a kid, I panicked. The car hit the curb, and went up over and started to roll through a construction site. Several things played in my favor that day. One, it was Saturday, so no construction was going on. Two since it was a construction site, there was a fence at the back of the site. They had a large chain metal fence with the bright orange plastic fencing stuff they use at construction site, and behind the fence is where they stored the large cinder blocks. When my car rolled into the fence the roof of the car was starting to buckle and crush in; the fence with the blocks slower the roll of the car enough that it landed just past the fence & blocks. I had passed out for a moment and on coming around I realized I was upside down, covered in dirt & fire ants, and only feet away from a deep lake. There were no windows left, and the seat had broken loose. the only thing keeping me in place was my seatbelt. I was actually pinned between the hanging seats and the seatbelt, they had to cut me out. Had the blocks not been stored behind the fence, I am sure the car would have rolled straight into the lake. Being pinned in, a bit disoriented, and with no windows I am sure I would have died. I still am afraid to drive, I only drive if I absolutely must. I take the bus, walk, or carpool. Plus my family has had a loss to a drunk driver. Yeah I guess I can't be impartial about this, but I believe people who drink should NOT drive. Walk, bus, taxi, etc. used alternative transport. I am told that woman that day just kept saying she'd only had a few drinks. Yeah well that day a few was more than enough for me. So I have a problem with DUI's and no problem what's so ever with sobriety tests. |

![]() Credits: 10,866 | Re: D.U.I. & Sobriety tests Well there is no way to tell what everybodys limit is. You need to just set a rather low one and go from there. But if they made everyone take a breathing test first then there would be no arguments to the contrary. If they passed then they should get a warning or some kinda of a fine if they were driving. If they don't then they get a trip to jail and their licences revoked. Yes this way is abit harsh, but untill we can control the massive problem that we have with drunk driving this would be a step in the right direction.

![]() Credits: 25,638 | Re: D.U.I. & Sobriety tests I was told she was doing about 67mph at the time she hit me. I have OCD so maybe that plays into my fear, because if I even think about getting behind the wheel my mind starts racing with thought of what could possibly happen. I know it's crazy but there you have it. I break out in a sweat, start shaking, etc. It s_cks, but I deal, ya' know. The drivers in Florida make the drivers in New York look like Sunday grandmas. Drivers down here have no respect at all. They rarely ever use their turn signals, they drive through school zones at 50 or 60. They don't pull over for emergency vehicles, and they fly past the school buses when they are picking and & letting kids off. We have a high rate of DUI's here. It's crazy, but this all plays into my fears. I have only been able to get behind the wheel and drive in a few emergency situations, and then I was in such a state by the time we got to the hospital... Any way, it would be great if car makers would make all vehicles (not just cars), energy efficient, and install in all of them... what are the called, the breathalyzers that you blow into or your car won't start (I had a friend with one once)... any way install them in all cars. Now yeah some idiot could just get some other person to breath into it, but it would cut down on DUI's drastically. If they were in all cars, the cost to make them would be cheap (mass production and all that). Just a thought. |

![]() Credits: 12,936 | Re: D.U.I. & Sobriety tests i see...you run into the "What if" loop...my wife does that sometimes...i happen to toss what if ideals out the window...personally its not worth brain cells. if you keep going through the "what if's" you'll drive yourself mad...the variables are way to vast to figure it all out...i know its hard to stop...im here in Los Angeles, if its not all the stupid movie stars doing the DUI's its everyone else...and we have a hell of a lot of cars here in LA...but i chose not to let the what if's rule my life, what is, is all that matters...i get in my blue bomber and hit the crowded roads...sure, i have to watch the other cars but im not afraid of them...anyways my car is bigger...good luck Umbriel...

).Just don't drink and drive, people! It actually isn't that hard. I'm sure you can handle it, I'm sure in some cases it IS all about the money, but just DON'T DO IT!

![]() Credits: 25,638 | Re: D.U.I. & Sobriety tests I couldn't agree more. Yes they try to get you for every dollar (well some do), but if you do nothing wrong, then they can't get you. Plus when you take even one small drink and then get behind the wheel, you know there may be a chance you'll get pulled over. If you don't do it, you won't get caught. No money lost. However classes would be a good option. Where I come from it isn't even an option, it's automatic. |
