The anarchy in our country has grown extremely since they abolished the death penalty. It's necessary to keep the masses well-behaved.

Savages, i think not. The real savagry was the acts the criminals commited. I guess those other countrys dont have a bad murder problem? So you can kill 50 ppl there and just be put in prison. How is that right?

Also how is it fair that the murderer gets to live and breath and the victem is 6 feet under?

I like knowing that if their put to death they will never harm anyone again. Never!!
The whole "Killing people is wrong, we'll prove it by killing you" line turns me off every time.

Its not wrong if its done in the form of a payment for an horrible crime.

I agree Zdenek, the death penalty can be a good deterant if dont swiftly.

If it's a good deterant why does the US have one of the highest murder rates of any first world nation while we're one of the only first world nations to still have this "deterant"

Perhaps vegeta its because the U.S has much easier access to lots of weapons pretty much any weapon is available to you if you can afford it even the 50 cal. bmg sniper rifle britain doesnt which is why it would work better over here if we had the death penalty

    Re: DEATH penalty

i believe you should get to jail for something like that. on the other hand, something like the nuremburg trails, i think that was a MUCH fairer type of death penalty.

It is my personal opinion that because it is not used as a "deterrent" but rather it is a punishment that the severity of isn't clearly or directly focused on in the general public eye.

I mean if I kill someone and am caught relatively quickly, say less than 5 years. I then go to trial, which may last 1 year on the short side 4 years if drawn out (I am referring to the whole process of gathering evidence, building the case and actually launching the trail, then the whole duration of the actual trial).

I am then put on death row for at least 20 years...now it has been 25 to 30 years since I committed the crime...of which I have been living decent given I am on death row...that time gap alone creates enough disassociation from the punishment that it is not considered a deterrent for others.

If we did a public display killing people off in less than 5 years to the date the crime was committed, I guarantee there would be a reduction in the murder rate. Now, I know and you know why, this is a bad idea but that doesn't mean our current system is gold either.

Personally. If I kill another for reasons other than self-defence then I should be killed in return, why should I get to live a life when I stole the same from someone else? Just my thoughts.
