Re: The Ethics of Lolicon and Shotacon.

Both don't really bother me, at all. It happens. Hell, I have a Lolicon thing, it is more then half the reason why I watch what I watch. As for reducing the amount of sexual crimes out there, all I can say is that is a double-sided sword.

In one case the older individual may get just what they desire from Anime, Dating Sims, Hentai, H-Games, anything of the sort and be happy with those alone. Another person may be fed on those for years and then suddenly find that he/she has a sudden urge for real flesh and find that they are unable to supress such urges. Sometimes they are caught, thrown in jail and restricted living after prison, other times they get away with it time and time again.

I'll be honest, I see MOST highschool girls differently these days. There's nothing wrong with that, I'm more then other in control of myself to attempt anything; I wouldn't even know what to do even if i did.

I don't care child porn even if it's animated is wrong and it should be illega

I wouldn't go that far, considering that if it's sketched/drawn/animated there was no real crime being committed. Yeah, everyone's got thier opinoins on grown men having sex with children, but if there is no violation of a child involved--simply put, keeping the fetish at home--why should it be illegal?

Would you rather have that creep in your neighborhood, preying on little kids? I think not! Let the perv have his fantasy, so long as he doesn't touch my kid or the kids in my neighborhood. Plus, there ARE some people who fantasize about girls who're much younger than them--or even just flat-chested women--but never carry out the actual action of sexual intercourse, because they KNOW it's wrong.

You fail at defining the genre. Just because something features a child doesn't mean it was designed to appeal to adults who fetishize children. Card Captor Sakura was a show for little girls. It's no more lolicon than "Dora the Explorer"

aahahaha that is so true !!! ahh...
anyways I sincerely enjoy this thread because it is controversial and was started with a fantastic statement. I think that with a subject like this you have to decide where to draw the line...
Human nature is to be attracted to youth, for any and all reasons that they can think of.

Tsuara is right... it really comes down to a matter of morality on an individual level.

I can see where your ideas are coming from, but just because someone's into shotacon and lolicon doesn't mean they actually want to be sexually associated with real children... Yeah, I'm a fan of some works of artists that would be considered shotacon (Yura, Yuzuki Ichi, etc.), but doing anything with a real child? (0_0) I stated above in my first post that the idea of being with a real child and anything to do with child pornography is repulsive to me. I know a few "furries" and fans of anime characters with animal features (catgirls... heck, catboys even), and at some point, I've all asked them if they would be tempted to set up relations with real embodiments oftheir fetishes. Each of them —and I've met quite a few and gotten quite close to them —telling them about my own interests XD— over the years... past 100?— have told me they would not be tempted whatsoever. Tsurara's even stated that many of her otaku friends with Lolita Complexes "would NEVER dream of touching a real child."

Remember, lolicon and shotacon works are fantasies. I'm sure everyone loves to fantasize, but not every single one of those people actually want to act out on their fantasies. Of course, not everyone has moral obligations or care about the law, but the majority I know (well actually, all of them) do care and take responsibility. Irresponsible and immoral people commit crimes like that... Not everyone with an abnormal sexual fetish is irresponsible or immoral. Besides, if watching lolicon and shotacon actual child ponography, then I must be really killing someone whenever I kill my sims, and I must actually want to watch a forty-year-old couple burn in a fire.

Re: The Ethics of Lolicon and Shotacon.

I think that as long as there isn't a an actual child involved, then we shouldn't worry too much about it. We still gotta throw in the whole "fantasy or reality" thing into the equation. I think lolicon is actually a good thing, in a way. Keeps pervs focused on lil cartoon girls, instead of looking for real girls to "do the dirty deed" with. It's better to address the urge in a comparatively mild way than to ignore it until it festers in the back of your mind 'til you actually do something stupid. Gotta address them urges to control 'em, ppl. That goes for any fetish, really.

No grown man (or woman for that matter) should put thier hands on a child in that sort of nature. It's just wrong. The way I see it is you keep your fetish at home! Even better: seek help! I can understand that loli/shotacon can bring a certain release to people, but no one should go out looking for children to "take home for dinner". The day I see a man drive up to a kid and say some craziness like, "I lost my puppy, will you help me find him?" I'm gonna put my foot through his windshield!! Although, there are grown men who look at high school girls like, "if she were my age" or "if I were ten years younger," but that's natural; considering I've heard damn near every man I know say it.
I agree! Big time, theres no part of this that to me gives a good reason for child porn to be legal at all, its just sick! The people who even make these things need to be put into a mental home or soemthing of that nature. And believe it or not, during my last anime convention I was actually told about a Lolicon party that has been going on secertly at that place, which was Ohyacon, ask my friend
    Ochi Gate

And also what about the issue of the murders that were done and later found that they were linked to child pornography, like the case of Tsutomu Miyazaki, the 7 year old murder! He mutilated and killed four girls, ages four to seven; he then sexually molested their corpses and ate portions of his third and fourth victims. The crimes — which, prior to Miyazaki's apprehension and trial were classified "The Little Girl Murders"

A police search of his two-room bungalow turned up a collection of 5763 videotapes, some containing lolicon anime and slasher films. Interspersed among them was video footage and pictures of his victims
