Re: Everyone's a Little Bit Racist Sometimes

Well, I wouldn't know if this qualifies for a good answer or not, and I apologize in advance, but I've thought that Black people often seemed more violent that others. I suppose it could be true, right? I also seem to the say the N word To any black/african americans in my schools in my mind when they annoy me or any other person. [Ex: My god, shut up you "N"-er] I suppose That works? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've also become A bit ethnocentric due to the fact of the current war going on. It's made me believe the others out in the world are horibble people for making us fight and whatnot.

Re: Everyone's a Little Bit Racist Sometimes

Everyone's got a little racism because everyone is biased in some way to people/ideas not like who they are. If a person doesn't express this outwardly, then it just affects decision making and judgement subconsciously. You can know whats right, and still have a tiny secret prejudice.

My dad died on 9/11 in the WTC and I have admittedly had some bitterness towards some Islamics. Not the peaceful ones that live in the US, but the ones in the Middle East. Their goal seems to paralell that of Hitler's; to purify the world of all impure races and religions. And, having a Jewish grandfather who narrowly escaped the Nazi's, I can't help but see some similarities.

@ Tsurara: I'm sorry, but I have to disagree w. you about Israel. The only Jew in my family was my grandpa and I am Roman Catholic, but I think they're just fed up. Since biblical times, some kind of oppresive power has tried to put them down and persecute them. I think that the Israeli police force is showing cruelty to those who showed them the same harshness.
It's not fair, but there is a tension and bitterness between Islamics and Jews that will never end.

    -Rich people
Sorry, but I dislike anyone who has money to throw around. I'm not poor by any definition, but I can't stand those who think spending a couple hundred on a pair of pants is no big deal. Or people who don't have to save for years just to have a minimum down payment on a house.

    -Teenagers
Once again, sorry. Whenever I see a group of high school aged kids hanging around, I immediately think they're up to no good. Maybe because that's how I was as a teen. My husband always laughs at me when we're driving by a group of kids, and I feel compelled to say, "Goddamn teens. GET A JOB!!"

    -Old people
You move too slowly, drive like idiots, and never shut the hell up. I try to emphasize with you, but there's a limit to my patience. I love my dad, but he's part of the reason I loathe old folks, he calls me three times a day just because he's lonely and wants to tell me what he's watching on TV. And just so you don't think gren's a horrible person, I always sit and listen to his ramblings, even though I'm looking around for a knife to shove in my temple.

-People who can't control their kids in public
I grant you, being a parent is tough, but for God's sake, shut your kid up long enough for me to enjoy a nice meal in a restaurant. Better yet, leave the little brats at home. You all think that the world should revolve around you just because you managed to procreate...I say so what, it's not a difficult thing to do. And why should you get sympathy at work just because your three kids all have the flu? I have to drag my arse into work every day because I don't have a good enough excuse not to, and it pisses me off that people with kids can use that as an excuse not to come in (knowing that someone else has to do that day's work for them).

I'm not racist, I hate everyone equally! LOL.

On a serious note, I guess you can say that everyone is a bit racist. Name one person who doesn't have a problem with at least ONE racial group. I, for one, have it in for the Africans. ^_^ I can explain why when I get home, but now I have to run for the bus!!

Actually I consider that an utterly inane quote. Racism is considering one race to be superior to another or to hate someone because of their race. It is not bias, judgments, or opinion. This idea that we have to agree with everyone and have no biases on anything is one of the biggest myths to come out of politically correct moral relativism.

We fear new experiences because they are unknown, that is natural. We have bias and make judgments based on personal experience, it means we learned something. We build opinions based on our personal belief, a God given and constitutional right. The key to getting along is not admitting our differences, that is a given, but respecting others right to have their own and expecting the same in return. Tolerance and acceptance is not the same thing. Tolerance creates unity. Demanding acceptance merely leads to intolerance and civil disorder.

Re: Everyone's a Little Bit Racist Sometimes

I am really against racism and have friends of all races but I know that under certain circumstances I can demonstrate biases and prejudice. It might be kind of funny to some people (I don't mean to be offensive in any way so read the whole thing before u get mad at me ) but when it comes to calling someone black or African American I don't like saying either because when I say someone is black I feel like I am being racist but when I say they are African American I feel like people think I am trying too hard not to be racist. Either way I think I might make the person feel uncomfortable. I know that is a little confusing and weird but that is the only way I can explain it.

The quote from Avenue Q wasn't supposed to be literal. It just was supposed to show that we all have different biases sometimes and we that we should just accept that, as long as we live in peace with all races and their customs.

BTW, Tolerance means tolerating toher cultures.

Acceptance means accepting them as credible.

Tolerance without accceptance is the clear problem among races. Because one can only tolerate someon else's "odd ways" for so long.

Bottom line, we all judge people that are different than us, even when our conscious says we should not.

I mean, we can't all be god-like in morality like you.
