I thought someone did a study on this back in the day where it was pretty much confirmed that TV and Video Games were not the cause of violence and poor behavior. I think it has more to do with upbrining than anything else, that and living conditions. Also, isn't this more of a debate topic suited more for the debate forum?

Making a title less than descriptive doesn't break any rules. It is the same as making a thread in the wrong section, it is just a mistake that is easily corrected. Just stay on topic, you're fine.

Shichibukai | Re: The Influence of Television Of course media such as tv have influenced kids at some points of their lives. I mean think about it.People see stuff and those who have lack the experience will follow anything that is done no matter if the thing done is good or bad. |

It's like blamming myspace for what the children do on there. TV is just being victimized but then you have children at a young age that don't know better want to do some of the things they see because they look up to the actors and what they are doing.

wtf mate? | Re: The Influence of Television TV does influence people these days, more particularly kids and teenagers. Just look at what is 'cool' these days, trace it back to where it started, some where along the line the media is involved. Look at all the slang/sayings some people say, most of it probably originated from the media/TV some how. 'bugger' for example, was in a really popular TV ad here in Aust, I don't know if it originated there, but for a while after that, everyone was saying and there is people that still do and I got a feeling it will be around for generations. I say some slang/words that I got from my parents, who had got it from some by-gone star/show/ad ( I had an example, but I have forgotten >_<) Look at what kids are wearing these days? Some of it is copied of what they see the 'stars' wear on TV. You have stars on TV, jumping up and down advertising products and all of a sudden the product is cool. You have overly skinny models and actresses/actors on TV and in movies and all of a sudden to be beautiful/cool, you have to be skinny aswell. So yes, the TV influences us HEAPS, some people more so then others.. now if we are talking about violence in the media (on TV) - no. The child or teenager must have had something seriously wrong with him or her, already, to go around hurting people because of a game, movie, or something they saw on TV. That would have more to do with what is happening in their lives at the time, maybe even there up bringing - depending of course.
