The bill says criminal charges will no longer be brought for possession of up to 25 milligrams of heroin, five grams of marijuana (about one-fifth of an ounce, or about four joints), and half a gram of cocaine — about half the standard street-size quantity, which is enough for several lines of the drug."

Though it increases penalties for people distributing large doses, you can by law now have and use drugs without repercussions.

What do you think about this, with the war on drugs in America pretty stagnant right now, do you think this will increase the amount of people going to Mexico to get drugs and high.. Thoughts??

I know that the instinct response would be well Mexico has been doing that for ages, however, because Mexico is are close neightbor, do you think that this will affect America and the war on drugs here, we all know they are passing it through the border but do you think it will increase now or will it slow down.

I think the mexico is doing the right thing here. It would be like when USA stupidly banned alcohol during the 1920's, but then congress had to legalized alcohol just to get rid of the high illegal selling of alcohol wich at the end did work.

Probably more people will try to get to mexico so that they can have those drugs. I don't think that it was a smart idea to legalize drugs..but it proably won't have much of an affect as those who wanted to use it would have legal or not. It's just a bit more out in the open now

Yes, but these drugs are far more worse than alcohol. I dont think this will stop the illegal selling of drug. It will make it worse.

I see your point man, but that is the only way to stop the illegal selling of drugs in big quantities. More people will come to mexico wich will increase more income on turism. That will help the mexican economy a bit.

Mexico did what? That's stupid, because drugs are far worse and you never know when some people will start giving drugs to the younger people.

This is juts plain politic advertising, mexico wants global attention, and it will get it at this pace. I have seen the reaction of some of you guys just by reading your comments on this issue. who the heck will buy this crap!

It's not really political advertising, more like another failure of a government slowly dying from corruption. The major narcotic syndicates in mexico can already use the Mexican military to safely see drugs across the border, making the drugs legalized in their own country (albeit in small amounts) would be the next logical step. I don't think I can really call it stupid. It's horrid, yes, but let's think about this for a moment. If major syndicates can control portions of the military, how much force do you think they can use against Mexico's officials?

Hey, they can do what they want..... its their country after all. If people there like it, then its fine with me. If they disapprove, then eventually theyll launch something that will topple over this law. Either way, I cant really say if the law is good or bad ultimately.

LOL, I saw this on the news a few minutes ago. "This idea is just dumb," said an American Congressmen. So it's ok to have a small dime bag of crack, but not ok to sell it. Mexicans are gettin' lazy of catching drug dealers is what it sounds like to me. I know the Americans are fighting against very much. What a lame legislation.
