Thread: Oil dependence

I believe the reason why we are still dependent is because we do not have a unilateral plan for getting us off oil, we claim to hate gas prices, but we are unwilling to carpool with our friends or neighbors, nor are people ready to give up their SUV's or trucks, also oil companies do have alot to do with it, however, no alternative fuel source has been found to be economically viable. Ethanol is used in food processing, one food processing company has said that it will increase the price of food because production is high, another said that its ok to use the food stock, so we have conflicting comments, also most alternative sources are too inefficient, solar panels only harness about 30 percent of the suns energy, the rest is nothing more than heat(one of my professors is working on new solar materials). What we need is everybody, the community, the states, the nation to become one and be able to change together, without that, we will not change.
