Pro Life and Stupid Birth Control Restrictions
We all know what abortion is and it can be polarising. Personally I don't think anyone can really be in favor of abortion. It is a brutal act. But the older I get I start to distance myself from pro lifers. You see simply put a lot of those wackos also are against birth control.
For those of you who live abroad one must be older than 17 and get a perscriptions in the united states. There is over the counter birth control but the same restriction applies. Plus women who want over the counter Plan B if they are young must be raped and report being so. This is stupid, girls or women regardless of age should have access to birth control, no questions asked.
I am sorry but in order to prevent unprepared women from having children and having to support them on government tax dollars than hell, make it available through schools.
That is my opinion on the issue but what is yours?
Re: Pro Life and Stupid Birth Control Restrictions
I guess the birth control restrictions make some kind of sense (dealing with the age of consent, I mean). Obviously, if a girl under a certain age needs Plan B, she's been doing something she shouldn't. My question would be, couldn't the girl just get her mom to get the over-the-counter birth control for her? There are always holes in these kinds of laws.
Anyway, I don't think the problem is the lack of availability of birth control, condoms, or any of that. The problem is that people under the age of consent are having sex in the first place. If you can actually find protection and/or birth control, then that's one thing. But just doing it without thinking of the consequences is simply stupid. "It'll never happen to me." Bull. It happens all the time and both the girls and the guys that screw without a second thought are probably going to end up getting a really quick lesson in maturity (i.e. a baby).
As for abortion, if I was a girl, I wouldn't do it, but I could understand wanting to. Especially for rape victims and the like. To have to bear the child of your rapist is just messed up.

With women it is far more difficult to get parents to help with birth control. You mentioned the age of consent, but people are having sex before even if they shouldn't. Besides In many states age of consent laws don't apply if both parties are underage. And besides what makes someone sexually active isn't dictated by law but rather hormones,
Personally, I didn't have sex with anyone until I had an education and stable job. Not everyone agrees with that either and I understand their arguments against it. No one will ever agree when the right time for sexual activation is.
The only thing that is universal is that people are uncomfortable with teen pregnancy and birth control.
It is not just with teen girls either. I remember I once started the process for a vasectomy once because the federal government says they cover and they do. But they make it such a difficult process and turn down people who don't have children. I always felt like saying "hey idiots you get the procedure so you don't have children."

That is cool that you are responsible and I think it is cool your mother supports birth control. I wish more people had parents that supported their childrens decision in this matter.

Re: Pro Life and Stupid Birth Control Restrictions
In the near future babies will be made in artificial wombs with all the specifications the parents may want the baby to be made with.
I think sex should only be done by responsible adults willing to take responsibility for any mistakes (babies) they make along the way. Birth control shouldn't be regulated although i do see why they do it. Authorities don't want teenagers to be having sex left and right thus screwing up by bringing unwanted babies.

Yes, but they are having sex any ways. As far having sex left and right goes; I don't know for a fact if people will be having more sex just because they are on birth control. They might but it still wouldn't matter to me. Unwanted children are everyone's problem.
