Yeah, being mixed is good and all....but if you really can't claim one or the other.....It kills a bit of your self identity, especially if you have no clue on your true heritage........The Con of being a mutt.

It is hard to.......Race has been used so long it gets ingrained into your mentality........We should be able to celebrate racial differences and have pride for ourselves; not have society-imposed modesty.

Eh.. I think the only reason race is such a big problem is because it makes people uncomfortable, or afraid to be different. I dont think it should be as crucial as it really is... I dont think it should matter at all, but race, or ethnicity, is like an elephant in a small room. It's the most obvious thing about a person so automatically it becomes the most scrutinized.

I think the whole racial stereotyping thing is a no-no, though. Like, saying all white people are rich preps, and hispanics have 100 babies and all blacks are ghetto gangbangers. It's just weird and unfair, to me. I'm african american and I personally have waaaaay more white friends than I do black ones.

As for the "how do you feel about your race," excuse me if I sound like Uncle Ruckus from The Boondocks here, but I think a lot needs to change in the african american society--mostly the way we make it so EASY to be labeled gangsters and pimps and thugs. It's not a glamorous image, despite what it looks like in the media. It's disgusting and it makes racism against african americans all the more strong. It makes it easier for us to be put in jail, simply because we LOOK like the type of person to stab someone in the head with a screwdriver.

And then there are people like me, who aren't violent or ghetto at all, who speak proper and make good grades---And for those reasons are not "accepted" by their race, or considered an "oreo" (black on the outside, white on the inside). I just hate the way african americans make it seem like we're all -supposed- to be dumb. If we're not in the projects smoking crack, we're "acting white." That's undermining your OWN race.

Blah. That's actually a subject for a whole nother thread, so I'm going to get back on topic. 'Scuse me.

How do I feel about other races? I feel uncomfortable at times. For example, being the only black person in an all white crowd can make you feel awkward, because you're different. I'm not afraid to approach people of different races, but being the "oddball" can make me shy away from certain groups of people sometimes.

As for interracial relationships---I think my parents EXPECT me to marry outside of my race. They pretty much predict it because I'm so into Asians. I would love to have mixed babies.

I think they're adorable. I'm not racist--I'd have a baby with any other person--red, yellow, black, or white--but I do think mixed people are very attractive.

Well, think about the statement. Africa is merely the name of the country that the person is born in, so, if you use to the term "race" and "african" together, you imply that ANYONE born in Africa is racially african. But that's not how it works. What is implied by saying "race" and "African" you are specifically talking about black people, which means they are not the same as white people. Now, I'm not saying you're racist, I'm just trying to show how the use of the term "race" creates thinking patterns that allow for racism to exist.

Hehe.. Im not too stupid to use that african term and be a racist. it's just what I gathered about how shallow others think. But all means of your words.. you are right. And may most people stop thinking that way. ^_^

I don't think race matter at marriage.
Love is the one that important.
But.usually a lot of people think of some race is better than other and I don't think it's good. Eventhough I prefer asian girl.
