Read Arcross America rejecting money

So I'm sitting here, mating socks and just surfing the web(Yes, I'm a guy and I fold laundry-its very manly) and for some reason or another I remember an event that happened here stateside; There's this porn star, her name's Sasha Grey and she did her final movie a few weeks ago and offered to donate half the proceeds to Read Across America, an organization that provides funding to schools and libraires to help battle illiteracy.

Now here's the funny thing: they refused her. Why? Their explination was this: you're a porn star. Not a criminal, but a porn star and it would be morally wrong to take her money. It bugs me just a little bit because it seems kind of hipocritacal. You're a organization who's goal is to help kids read and you're turning down a huge chunk of money. Not from some criminal, drug lord or what not, but a woman who makes a living having sex...it ain't blood money yet they had(this happend a few weeks ago) a hissy fit about her being a porn star-saying none the less that her money's dirty.

Does that seem right to you?

Their was also another area that something like this awhile back regaurding somethign like this: the Susan G. Coleman organization stopped funding to some medical group, I don't know their name, I know it starts with a P or something like that. They cut funding to this place, which helpe families with no insurance or a crappy policy get treatment, all because some of their facilities did abortion.

I know that this is a sensitive subject either way...but It's just bothering the hell outta me.

i would have to say that in the case of the group not taking the money from that porn star shows a lack of Integrity and Moral support for those who need it, i mean they were made in the hope of better our kids and how is that gonna happen if there gonna put standards on where the money comes from? drugs and things like that i understand but when someone who actually wants to help that has done nothing wrong is denied that's being petty i think. Plus it sounds like the group might be christian based which is another reason they declined the money.

for the 2and one im against abortion myself but to stop funding to a place that help families for more than just that is stupid even i know where to draw the line with my thoughts on abortions, there just nuts and they could have a christian base as well .

Well the problem is with the abortion thing is that the Susan G.Coleman group is independantly owned and operated, so...no much they can do. But its just hypocritical to do something.

yeah i see your point though it would be nice to actually go to a aplce when you need help and them not give you the run around. i think they get over themselves and get back to helping like they used to but that looks hard to do right now

They should of took the money no matter where from.. even blood money is good money when used correctly! The other woman should of just checked what she was giving money to before giving money, now she just seems to be a ruthless person.

First off! Folding your laundry is hecka manly. Wow shes made her last one bummer. Those porn stars work hard for their money. Many may not approve but alot are kinder and nicer than many politicians and they take their money when offered. Just shows that even the red cross can be judgemental. Thats sad to hear. I'm sure the people who would benefit from it don't care where the money comes from
