Weakness is the root of all evil.

If evil is something created through the acts of people, then I think it stems from moral weakness.

It's natural to feel greedy, or selfish... but someone with moral strength can overcome these natural tendancies. If people were morally strong, then there would be much less 'evil'.

Really? Do you have charts showing the number of good acts done per year vs bad?

Here: List of countries by homicide rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia you can look at a breakdown of homicide rates per country based on each 100,000 people. So if the rate is say 55.3 (El Salvador), the highest rating in the world, then there is 55.3 homicides for every 100,000 people. So are you saying that out of the same 100,000 people only 13.8 people would try to save a life? Maybe in El Salvador, maybe, but if we take the average of 4 people per 100,000 worldwide does that mean just 1 in every 100,000 would do the opposite?

The fact is both great good and great evil comes from humanity the question here is what makes the difference?

but you are only looking at the semi-bad things that humans are doing to humans. Well ask your self have you ever littered outside??? Well thats a bad thing to the earth and all the animals. Next time look at the charts of how much waste is going from your home to the ground. Is that not evil enough for you???

Considering that animals kill each other every day as well, that eating other animals for sustenance is natural, and that humans are omnivores (both plants and meat) of course it isn't murder it is simply part of nature, all nature.

Now torturing or neglecting domesticated animals is a crime.

A little perspective please.

true there is natural causes but there is alot of the unnatural ones... the poor animals and bugs that are being killed by nasty humans. It's just not fair that a dog or something cann't talk and say how they like or dislike humans. Just wait in the future a dog could walk up to you and say how horid you smell. Or you could have dogs with guns ^.^ Kill Humans lol

I hate to agree to disagree here, but each is a cause that defers to another.

If one cause is so powerful that that one thing itself can influence a person to do evil, then it would most always be outwardly noticeable, and in the common social system, would be dealt with through the current mental help techniques or such.

If there is only one factor you have in your life that is not powerful enough to need "help" for, then it is not much of a factor, and cannot be said to be the root of such evil. If you have many, they can build upon each other, fear creating a sense of defense, fear and defense combined creating annoyance leading to anger, and then you have all of those senses happening now, whether you like it or not, and you could do some pretty evil things `:\

I also assume you have never owned a dog if you think they are not capable of expressing what they think. Mine thought, "see fence must climb it", "see car must charge it", "see 'Arrianna' must lick face"... and they are always hungry and they love attention. That's why they are considered domesticated. Feral dogs are vicious nasty killers. Domesticated dogs just want to be loved, feed, and sheltered - in that order. They are pack animals and we are their pack. It's natural for them.
