![]() ![]() | sex ed in high school? okay i was in health today and my teacher showed us porn in our class to show examples of sex. my principal happened to come in and he got mad. some parents came up to the school after school to complain. i was cheerleading at practice and the parents got mad saying sex ed is to much for kids now. they said it was the parents job to teach the kids about the subject sex. my question is do you agree? should the subject of sex be taught in school and at home or is it the parents right to teach the kids and not the school? thanks!

![]() ![]() | Re: sex ed in high school? Wow, weird subject to talk about.. Anyway, sex should be taught in skool by books. Not by watching nudidity and learning the best position you should be durin sex.. and.... My point is that sex should be learned in a proper way in school.. That's all.

![]() ![]() | Re: sex ed in high school? Oh yes and then when parents get akward trying to talk to their teenage child about sex they just give them some bs about the birds and the bees...Great stuff It needs to be taught in schools and if porn is the only way then let it be.Its better then having a bunch of maladjusted kids who dont know why they think the girls are pretty or why they think the boys are handsome. And most teens see porn anyway at some stage so seeing it in a controled enviroment is better then seeing it at a friends house imo

![]() ![]() | Re: sex ed in high school? hhmmm well i've always been a practical learner, but maybe that isn't such a good thing to teach that way for this topic.. i can understand y some parents would be angery as their kids saw porn but in realitly most of them would of either already seen it, or are goin to through friends and other more inconspicuous ways. and these parents say that they're goin to teach there kids but the most they are goin to teach is "don't have sex" in most cases or a very sugared up version i.e. birds and the bee's (can't say that i've been given that talk). so in that respect, ur kid are goin to see it one way or another so u might as well let them do it in a safe place than go downtown and go to some rather shady area's cause they will if they are really interested. but then again, i'm really hoping that this is around the ages of 14 - 15 yrs old. cause the first sex ed leason i ever got was when i was 11 - 12 yrs old. which i think it rather 2 young, but hey i wasn't complaining at the time. |

![]() ![]() | Re: sex ed in high school? Since there usually is an option to opt your child out if you don't care for the study, I don't mind sex education being taught at school. If there isn't one, then the class shouldn't be required. I myself had sex ed. in 7th, 8th, and 10th, during health class while in 9th it was taught in Biology. I must say sex ed. isn't about what does sex look/sound like so I do think it was a serious error in judgement for your teacher, princesslady. I mean if you can't watch porn on the computers or read about it in the library, no matter how 'educational' it is, why look at it during sex ed.? That sounds more like a college sex class... like inner said, people can see public versions of it on tv or a personal computer or something ^^; The only things that were taught in my class were people's feelings for friends/crushes/lovers, the parts of the body required, the process of fertilization, Sexually transmitted diseases, treatment and how to prevent them (heard 'abstinence' about 50 times that class), Protection (briefly, in 10th because a heated debate about the topic came up that year), sexuality (briefly as well) and rape/how to say no (those were mostly in those old tapes). Oh, and at the end of a biology movie we saw a baby come out. But that's pretty much it... |

![]() ![]() | Re: sex ed in high school? I got well educated in jr. high about such things actually, it was a required class. I think it's actually easier to talk about with someone OTHER than your parents, simply because it's less akward. I mean if my parents told me that's how it works, I'd be making pictures in my mind I didn't exactly WANT to see. And I consider myself to have a good relationship with my parents.
