Thread: Is 'Sexting' protected by the 1st Amendment

sorry i have to dissagree with that....its wrong its illegal and immorally wrong. These kids are under 18 most of the time, and people other than that r seeing the pictures most of the time. its the same thing as watching childrens porn, which is illegal.

its not the cell phone companies fault they only sell the phones its people who have the problem, its the same thing as prostitution, and kiddie porn. The goverment should take some kind of action and put it on someone to create something to stop this. I text alot, and i get some nasty pictures from my aunt, and i think some of them are children, or have alot of sexual content. I dont like seeing it, and i dont want the youngest children in my family to see it and say

" hey their doing it so i can do it too when i get a cell phone. " and some pervert man ends up with it a few days later. because guys like to share stuff like that, all the time, and many of them dont care if their little girls or not.
Thats how many people get raped, teasing someone in small clothes that show most of everything, then showing them something they want but cant have. it shows a huge reason why they get raped, or molested.

please what is this country coming to? especially when little girls innocent little girls end up getting raped because of sexting that someone else is doing?

im all for freedom and its all their descions,but comeone i dont wanna see a half naked little girl on my cell phone, or a man exposing himself, i have a husband so i dont need to see any other man, or woman. Im not into it, and yeah it happens more than we think, and has for a long time, it still doesnt make it right for little girls and boys to expose themselves for the world to see. Its shameful for their families, and later in their lives when they wanna be something important, or have a good job. those pictures will haunt them until they die.

for men "as always' its not an issue because their men (rolls eyes) and its no big deal, since theyve always been like that, so hey no foul when i man shows a picture of himself naked. (rolls eyes again because of a double standard)

Id rather not have my children go through this and think their not good enough for someone because skanky little girls want to show everyone their goodies. That no man is going to marry them, or like them because they dont expose themselves on "sexting images"

Freedom of expression\speech can only go so far. As it is restricted by ones responsibility to respect another persons right not to be unwillingly subjected.

So as long as the "sexting" isn't an uninvited one to the recipient... It should be considered as the senders right to free expression.

The age thing is where I think we get into a bit more of a gray area. Considering a 16 year old is "sexting" her 17 year old boyfriend. I, personally see no problem with that. At that age sexual exploration is considered normal, and sexting seems to be a perfectly safe way to outlet that. Much safer than actual sex.

I have always felt like legal "adulthood" should be considered at an earlier age than 18. I broke my virginity at 17. I never had a doctor question me as if I was abnormal. By 18 I was pregnant and on my way to parenthood!

Generations before us, it wasn't uncommon to be wed by 15 or so. What we consider wayward teenage years... was when people were living adult lives.

The reason why that is not ok, is becasue, there is a TOO YOUNG! The tender ages when a child isn't even capable of fully understanding the nature of sex. Its deplorable to exploit someone that young. As, even with consent, they lack the maturity and intellect to comprehend what they are consenting to.

To legalize it, is to permit abuse, and the ruin of lives.

Most of us regret sexual decisions we make in our late teens, early twenties, and so on... So why would we ever expect a child to be able to advocate for themselves in such a situation? To permit the ruin of an innocent child, is a crime I think deserves the harshest punishment imaginable.

i realy see it as overexpression coz if this guy is so desperate or the girl was why dont they just go and meet instead of wasting money on texting... adding if they did do that we wouldnt be talking about this, but i gues that its their choise.

nah i think its persons right to send naked pictures of themselves to someone else if that person permits it.But if there little kids then the parents need to put a stop to it.

People shouldn't go to jail just becuase they want to expose themsleves privately to someone else.

thats a good point but i still see it as overexpression but if there are kids involved then the people should have sense enough to not do it in the kids precence
