Re: Should engish become the official language of the U.S?

even though english isn't exactly the "official language" of the US, most citizens deem it as the official language anyhow. reason simply being, most people need to be able to speak and understand it. plus, english is the "official language" being taught at school in the US. so even if it's not the "official language" of the US, i'd say most already deem it as the official language anyhow. but i guess i shouldn't be theorizing here lol. i'm not from the US. i'm aussie lol.

Re: Should engish become the official language of the U.S?

English is the official language of the U.S. Just because the government doesn’t say it is means nothing. The reason for this is when the nation was founded it was done mostly from people who came from England who spoke it. As time went on it changed into U.S. English but it remained still English. The problem is people now after all this time come here thinking that just because they can’t speak the language the country should change its language to there’s witch is wrong. I don’t go to Japan and demand them to speak English why should it be the reverse?

I suppose technically we do indirectly demand japanese to learn english (almost all of the schools from middle and highschool have english classes) I also believe that we should make it a point to teach people english yet not stamp out the other languages.
Its too close for missles; time to bring out the guns.

It surprises me that English isn't the official language yet.
Because in day-to-day life it certainly is.

Re: Should english become the official language of the U.S?

i think english shouldnt be the

    language because you cant

    learn from other cultures or

anything if you have them speak one language.

i mean the indains had an awsome culture

then the english came along and forced the eglish

laguage on them and in time the culture died out

sure theres a few reservation's but it isnt the same

anymore most of the people there speak english

    not there native toung.
