Alright, i was watching oprah, yea i love oprah, and a gay couple adopted some children but they were turned down by many organizations just because they were homosexual. My question is should they be able to adopt a child. me personally, i am on the fence. They should not be denied that right, but then again think of the children and their future outcome.

What do you all think?

@.@ i don't think that is a good idea... i mean think about the children who is gonna get adopted... i mean.. what would ppl think of the child in the future..
what would he/she would think about the "parents" totally not a good idea,...

Preventing homosexuals from adopting is a type of discrimination. Many children raised by gays are perfectly fine and end up marrying a member of the opposite sex. If two gay people love a child more than two straight people, they ought to be able to adopt said child. Furthermore, the child grows up with a more diverse culture and respect for differences, like the children born to Caucasians and African Americans, etc. Just because Billy has two mummies doesn't mean he'll grow up to become a shizoid serial rapist/axe murderer.

I don't think so. The kids will turn gay and that is not a good thing. Some people are crazy enough to molest them. They shouldn't be able to adopt kids. IMO.

I believe gays have as much rights as heteroxexuals do. I don't think we have the right to tell them yes or no to adopting children, or getting married. As divine_punishment said, it is a type of discrimination. As if we need more of that in this world. Anyway, arguments stating that it isn't a good idea because of the children and what their outcome will be, to me, is complete BS. I know that many kids who are raised by homosexual parents turn out perfectly fine. The only negative outcome for kids being raised by homosexual parents is the descrimination towards them from outside sources. What goes on in the home however, is the same as what goes on in a house filled with a mother and a father. Love, attention, and all the other basics a child needs to grow healthy and nurished. I don't see a problem with gays adopting a child. If they want to have a family, then so be it. But they shouldn't be descriminated against.

How do you know that their children will turn gay? Even if they do, I do not see any harm in that. Might as well tell everyone to not let them adopt children, because the same goes for abusive parents, and racist parents. Will their children turn out to be abusive and racist? Most likely. But you do not see anything being done about that. Nowadays, kids are starting to learn that it isn't good to be racist, and that it isn't right abuse others. They are being taught. So that can be prevented. Just because their parents are gay, does not mean that they will turn out just like them.

Yeah, I understand. But they could turn gay it can happen and they can be straight too. If there parents are racist they shouldn't listen to them it's all about what they think not what their hateful parents think.

Exactly. It CAN happen. You never know. Which is why descriminating against homosexuals is rediculous. It is just another way to start problems, and cause issues.

In my opinion the children will turn out to be broad minded. Since they have been living with homosexual parents, they might either turn out like them or be straight with better point of views. How long do these type of marriages last anyways?

In most cases they wont turn gay, but you never know. Think about when you were growing up, and all you had as a role model for what a couple is gay parents, and all you see is Man/Man or Women/Women. Couldn't that be instilled in you sub-consciously as what you should do when you grow up?

Also kids need a male role model or on the other side a womans nurturing. So no i dont think they should adopt. But then again its better than abusive parents.
