![]() Credits: 937 | Re: A simple yet complex question.... A tree that falls in the woods, obviously makes a sound. The question itself is complex coz humans interpret sound usin our sense, thats how we know it exists. However, sound waves r still produced as a result of the fallen tree.... It brings us bck to those topics of how do u know something exists, if u arent there to hear, see or feel it. I'm not goin to get into that whole "does god exist" topic again. I'll leave it at that.

this always used to go round my high school to see what people thought of it. I think that the answer is no because if no one is there to hear then ther is no sound. So how can you tell if its made a sound when no one hears?????????? But it still doesn't mean its making a sound. There are many animals out there who are sensative to other certains sounds. So its a yes...

![]() ![]() Credits: 160 | Re: A simple yet complex question.... *sigh* ok a third approach ill try to demonstrate common sense. a scientist is using the scientific method to examine a frog on day one he puts the frog on the table and claps his hands. the frog jumps next day he cuts off the frogs arms. claps his hands. the frog jumps. next day he cuts off the other arm. claps his hands. the frog jumps agian. next day he cuts off the frogs leg. claps his hands. the frog jumps agian. next day he cuts off the other leg. claps his hand. but amazingly the frog would not jump. he concludes that the frog couldnt jump because by cutting off limbs makes the frog deaf. this is true. we cannot prove it wrong. however, we all know better. to apply this to the tree situation. for the senario to occur: the tree must fall what we are observing for: does the tree make a noise?(assuming no one is around to hear it) if we observe a tree falling(to the ground, non vacuum enviroment), we would notice that it makes alot of noise as its falling. if tested an infinite number of times we will always get the same result. if a tree falls(to the ground, non vacuum enviroment). we assume that the tree didnt make a noise because. the tree never fell at all. so if the tree never fell in the first place>conflict with our senario"the tree must fall"
