Re: The sun is getting older and hotter? (global warming issue)

ok with the hundreds of years thing I was not being all that good in explaining with all of the stuff I said. The piont I was trying to make was that we will not see any real riseing temp. with our sun. But we will see global warming and mybe the human race at its peak point in the earth suporting us. Well also I was meaning the crazy people in the way of people who think that this does not effect them and they should not worry about how global warming will affect them because they get alot of money for doing the things that they do. There is major things also besides humans that contibute to global warming. But humans are the ones who are doing it the most. Do you see a rabit going out in a car or burning a fire because they feal like makeing alot of smoke... Well pm me if you ever do >.<

Re: The sun is getting older and hotter? (global warming issue)

Actually volcanism occurs much more frequently than one may think, we jus' don' c it 'cause most often, nowadays, it occurs beneath the oceans. Now I agree wit Scourge that we humans r partly ta blame, but stoppin' carbon emissions now would do little ta slow the events that r takin' place on our planet. And I must ask, has any1 here have ever heard of the Theory of Revolutions and Submergences? Accordin' ta the Theory; Our world goes through periods where the Land rises, the Sea falls, polar Ice caps form, Seasonal weather, and Ice Ages happen (I.e Revolution). The second part of the Theory states that then the Earth goes through periods of when Temperatures rise causin' Polar Ice Caps ta melt, the Sea then rises, the Land then falls, and when the oceans have peaked; the Earth then has a uniformal Temperature (I.e Submergence). Accordin' ta the theory, this cycle has been goin' on for billions of years, long 'fore man's existence, and will continue for as long as the Earth exists, although the Revolution periods have been gettin' longer and longer while the Submergence periods have been gettin' shorter and shorter. We had covered this in my Physical Science class back in collage and my teacher, back then, had said that some scientists believe that the Earth is headin' for another Submergence Period. As evidence, they point ta the last Ice Age that the Earth had; claimin' that the Earth was long overdo for one and that we should've already had one happen. He also said that those same scientists claim that one would need a build up of carbon emissions that would take 100s of millions of years 'fore the Earth could change from a Revolution Period ta a Submergence Period and that we're at the tail end of a Revolution Period. Could it b that we're headin' for a Submergence Period? I think that it's certainly a possbility.

wow never heard of that theory =/ it rises an interesting point ^.^ but the problem with that is it never said that anything will survive.... Just saying that we and most of the life on earth will most likely not survive for all taht longer >.<

Unhappy Re: The sun is getting older and hotter? (global warming issue)

Now all this discussion on theory and stuff makes me wish that i should pay more attention in school. but all i know is that all this global warming is well yes a natural part of evolution just like our bodies growing old and stuff. but in part if we cared enough to take care of the environment i guess this will help lessen what ever stuff all the governments are blaming the disasters their countries are encountering.

mybe you should have... because this has nothing to do with evolution... I'm just wondering why you thought it had to do with evolution? But most of the stuff can be hleped by the goverments well look at the U.S. (again...) what did the congress do when All Gore (do not know true spelling of name) told about global warming... They did not care and threw it aside >.<

Re: The sun is getting older and hotter? (global warming issue)

There's also a super volcano end of the world theory. All of Yellowstone is a super volcano and there is evidence that it had once erupted, perhaps causing ice ages and such. A super volcano eruption would throw volcanic dust and sulfur dioxide into the atmosphere, blocking out the sun rays. This wouldn't heat the Earth, in theory, it would do just the opposite.

There are plenty of threats that the human race will face and they will probably end the species before the sun dies.

Re: The sun is getting older and hotter? (global warming issue)

that sounds so much fun ^^ but if that does not end it there is also a sligh chance of a medor hitting the earth in about 17-23 years ^.^ (if we're going into the end of it all)

Thing of it is that this has, accordin' ta the theory, been goin' on for billions of years; even through the birth of life on this planet. Some point out that many of the fossilized sea life that has been found in places far inland, like in areas like the Dakotas, helps ta support this theory. Life can and has survived through these various phases of our planets history and many supporters of this theory believe that life can survive through it again. Has any1 seen, or at least heard of, Waterworld? The story of that movie was actually based on this theory. Life can survive this dramatic change.

Re: The sun is getting older and hotter? (global warming issue)

I have heard all those theories; I am just surprised no one has heard the one I have stated. Yes there is a natural rise and fall of the ocean level as Joe Mage has stated, but we could be accelerating it so fast that it could very well go above and beyond the level Earth naturally goes through. And yes I do know that there are under sea volcanoes that erupt, hell we have one just off the cost here in San Diego. But I am talking about comparing activity to that of historical events that has accrued in the past. I have no doubt that these accrue, just that not to the level of what they use to be. Yes Yellowstone is a super volcano and when that thing goes bang we are all pretty screwed ladies and gentle men. What most people don’t know is that its a thousand years over do, give or take. Oh and the meteor hitting the Earth, that’s not global warming that’s global annihilation (depending on the size of the space potatoes.)

hey... just saying the people think may happen... but anywaaayyy.... scourge plz tell us this theory it just might be fun ^^
-global warming is a problem
-some ignore it
-many theories about this all
-may or may not be a nutural prosses
-in others words we are going to die one way or another...
-I'm hungry

Re: The sun is getting older and hotter? (global warming issue)

Besides the carbon di oxide etc:

Quote:
Right now I'm looking outside my window and I see snow on the ground. In the middle of April. During the spring time. After the coldest and harshest winter on record for the last 20 years. Global warming my ass.
Actually, that is a consequence of global warming. The term does not refer to the Earth warming up all the time; due to the carbon and CFC emissions, the heat is trapped, causing the Earth to warm up causing ice caps to melt, rising the sea level by about 1 - 2 metres [just vaguely guessing].
All this causes a disturbance in the consistent weather pattern which was present before the GW. These changes include: floods, inconsistent rain, sudden weather changes - snow in your case and unexpected thunderstorms/hurricanes.

I think it was Addrianna [sp] who mentioned in depth the Atlantic Chain Belt issue.
