Thread: Swearing?

Its fine to discuss this, but i better not see lots of cuss words. Use *** please. This thread isnt a pass to skip the rules and start posting bad language.

it is a matter of morals I think... I personally don't like them... and I don't use them and I don't like ppl around me to use them... it is just me.... for me is irrespectful but I respect those that use them...........I think there are better ways to say stuff even when one is mad.

I agree with what your saying about exagerating and it's the only way to really show your angry. Of course I think it's because of the younger kids. Most perents don't want their children to know about it until their older. Like for instence I have 2 little brothers ages 5 & 6 and they're already saying cuss words. Of course my mom blames me or my older bro. So mostly it has to do parents and also with religion.

In christianity you don't see alot if christains cussing.(excuse the spelling please) And if you go out in public and start to cuss some will feel uncomfortable. So it's not that it's really wrong it's more on the line of what poeple think is right or wromg. Like some poeple think that drugs r good and most think that they're bad.(In my oppinion I know they r bad.)
It's just how porple r raised and if they accept it or not.

cursing is considered vulgar
like you said it's considered "the language of the gutter"
and being a minority raised in the bronx people don't expect much of you so you have to prove that your not trash
and when every other word out of your mouth is a curse
all you're doing is making yourself look ignorant
and falling into the stereotypes
so I'm not for Excessive cursing
it'd disrespectful to yourself and the people around you
however once in a blue moon
when people get really pissed they just slip out
and I think its because we know these words are taboo
and by using them we're expressing the amount of anger we have
minor annoyances don't merrit curses
but something huge does
so everyone around you should know you're at your limit when you start cursing

hmmm... I think is not only how one's raised but how one's sorunded.... I thinl that the ppl that uses them show also that they don't have respect for other ppl.... for me it has a great significance and it says a lot from the person. I really don't like to be sorounded by ppl that is not going to respect me or my dignity as a person.

It's gutter language the same way calling someones mother a whore is. It has nothing to do with your class in society and everything with what class of person you are. It's rude, offensive, and shows a lack of self discipline and creativity. If the only thing you can think of to express yourself is to spew offal from your mouth then you mark yourself as someone who is beneath civilized manners, class, dignity, or respect.


Don't like someone? Tell them why. Upset about something? Say so. Use the width and breadth of your language, that is what it's there for.


And just in case someone doesn't know what offal is: refuse; rubbish; garbage.

Also let me point out that talking about "crud, crap, poop or even rubbish" is not appropriate in polite company either. Or are you in the habit of discussing your bowel movements in public?
