Teachers learn a new language or get fired? - Page 2

mmm...
first: every teacher has to assist to some courses time 2 time, the school where they work will tell them wut course they r supposed to take, usually its something related 2 the class they teach... and I think that(not sure) in every state if the teacher doesnt assist 2 that course they get fired.

second: hell no. wut do they expect come to a new country and to get everything in their own language?... I mean... they should get some kind of help... like in my school(Im in CA) they have, I think they are called sheltered classes, they are... well... different, where they teach students arriving from other countries... I dun see why the school system should adapt to them when they r the ones supposed to be doing an effort to integrate... but again... with some kind of help

This is funny cause this topic is way weird.

For one: There are Biolango Teachers in my school. We have many up here. K-12. ^^

So if there just normal teachers let them teach the english!!

We have Special Teachers for non speaking English kids. If there parents are having a fit because they believe there kids not getting the same treatment. They should have taught there little Child some English.

Anywho

Most kids that don't speak English have higher levels in Learning.

¬.¬ Like Duo from my 8th Grade Class. Couldn't speak one bite of English, but "A's" The courses.

Well, it sounds pretty stupid to fire a teacher just because she or he couldn't speak another lenguage. Most of the time foreign students that are new to the States don't take advantage of the ESL classes that most school offer, so its not the teachers fault for not being able to understand what they say its the student's fault for not learning the lenguage english.

Sure americans should be bilingual, but only for the language they want to speak. I hate it how now we're expected to pick up spanish just cause more and more of them are coiming into america. We're not part of latin america, so I don't see why we should have to change our customs to suit new immigrants that want to be part of our country. They should be the ones learning a new language, but that's just my opinion. And firing a teacher for not learning spanish, even if it's just a few words, shows how we're kinda being forced to adjust to them when they should be the ones adjusting to american culture.

No its not fair at all. The teacher has no control over who can speak English or not, and besides the school should have a specilist teacher that speaks another language so that that person can help the kids. The teacher's job is to teach the kids that speak English not the foreigner.

yes they should hire someone who knows the language they need but what if they had too many people who only knew english and needed a teacher who knew another language. someone's gotta go. to bad it was that teacher. plus you try to get a 5 year old to learn english with a teacher that doesn't understand when they are saying "i wanna go potty" it is just easier to teach the teacher to understand the "i wanna go potty" in another language. i mean the kid is going to eventually learn english. how would you feel if you didn't know chinese and you had to go to a school where that is what people spoke all the time. it would be helpful if someone would even understand the simplist things so that you could communicate the necessites.

and i think its stupid to fire the teachers if the kid cant speak English... why should the teacher get fired if the kid is too lazy to learn our language? he lives in our country hes gotta learn our language or he'll get nowhere at all once he grads...
