Well here comes my views. I don't belive that you should have sex till marriage. Even then I think you should be finacially set. Couples that just jump into parenthood can really screw themselves up. Not to mention it hurts your kids to live in an unstable household. So yeah no sex till marriage eveybody!

I never said people didn't use it for fun and pleasure as their "reason" for do it; I am saying that those things aren't the actual reason why sex is there. From a purely scientific standpoint sex is just for reproduction and the "fun" and "pleasure" is the reasons why we keep doing it, they are the things that cause us to want to reproduce.

My comments are that we fail to realize that as the "real" reason for sex and get so caught up in the "fun" and "pleasure" that we make the mistake of having them as the "reason" thus taking the act too lightly and wind up making mistakes, such a not being ready to parent a child. Hence the abortion rate, the number of orphans and foster children we have, sexual diseases etc...

The fact is sex is for reproduction and if you do it for other reasons your are not doing it for the purpose it was intended, now I am not saying that your are doing something wrong but that you better be prepared to take care of a child if your going to engage in sex (unless you are unable to have children but that is a different discussion).

Also I disagree that sex is a staple in keeping a marriage "alive", yes it is a factor but not a major one. In fact I will say that if all you have is sex you don't have a marriage. Most studies show trust, honesty and about 15 other things as being more important in a marriage than sex or even good sex at that. Granted I am not saying you can “live” without it or that your marriage will survive if you don’t do it but then again most couples(who aren’t on Viagra) over 65 aren’t knocking boots anymore either and you don’t see them splitting up. Just my thoughts.

Well everyone knows its original purpose, but its only used that way a few times in our lives when we want kids. Otherwise its for fun, pleasure, make-up, or even for a reward sometimes.

So if im getting you right the only times your going to have sex is when you want to have kids?



I dont know i guess it depends on the marriage, but to some sex is a major one. Yeah they may want those other 15 things, but if there no sex, some cant feel connected and close to each other.

There 65 and out of the dating game for decade, who are they going to find to date? So when your that old your kinda stuck together.

Also when your that old(With all your body aches and pains) knocking boots at over 65 isn't that fun and pleasurable anymore.

No, I am not saying the only time I will have sex is when I want to have children, all I am saying is that I will be prepared to have them as she could very much end up getting pregnant...otherwise I shouldn't be having the sex. It is just that I don't want to get so caught up in the fun and pleasure that I forget the responsibility that comes with it.

Most young (and older) people these days don’t think about it till they have to (meaning once the accident happens), which isn’t right to me. Your children while not necessarily planned should be planned for before engaging in sexual activities. If you can’t care for a child if you or your mate gets pregnant then don’t have sex.

Honestly, when kids start having sex its when there is nothing for them to do. Adults are always preoccupied with work and in their free time they get ****** up and/or have sex. That idea comes a lot from television so maybe that's why teenagers have sex. Maybe its not a good idea. I know its not healthy and promotes a non-healthy adult lifestyle. I didn't have sex until I was 18. I feel that because of that I'm not centered around it. Adults I know now that were active as a teenager are even more sexually active now as adults because its what they are familiar with.

Just thought I would pass it on in the ongoing conversation. There is more then one reason not to have sex outside of marriage. This fallacious idea that teen sex is without consequences if you just keep from getting pregnant is absurd.


Oh, and I believe someone earlier said, let me see, "Biology and history would seem to imply that by virtue of being capable of reproducing at all: most teens are, in fact, "ready" for sex." According to the research I have read that is far from true. Kids as young as 10 have proven to be capable of becoming pregnant however research has shown that physically the body is not finished developing until around 21-23 and having sex before then can do damage, having a baby even more so. Perhaps that is why so many girls die in childbirth in places where they tend to marry young. Add into that that emotional and mental growth doesn't finish until around the same age and the vast majority of teens are not emotionally equipped to deal with a deal with a sexual relationship either.

Let me break it to you gently, no you are not an exception.
