What would happen if the president was GAY!!

i wonder how the world would act if we ever had a gay president i mean alot of people frown at gays but our president that would have a massive impact on our society

I don't think it would make much difference. Some historians actually believe that James Buchanan our 15th president was a homosexual. Of course back then you never openly discussed your sexual orientation, especially if you were gay. However Buchanan was despised for his poor leadership rather than his sexual preference so I guess it just goes to show that if you make poor decisions as president, people are going to be more critical of your politics than your sexual preferences.

you'd be suprised how many important people such as authors were homosexual, yet the fact that they were doesn't overshadow the fact that they did great things. Are there going to be hateful idiots that would immediately disregard anything the president said? Sure, but they're in a minority. A gay president would be no different than any other president, and his orientation would not overshadow the great things, or the horrible things he/she did in office.

well i don't know i mean we never really had a gay president yes Buchanan was thought to be gay but what if the president openly admitted he was gay what would people say to that

A strictly hypothetical question of no value. It is highly unlikely someone would get elected as the 'Gay' candidate, and the media looking for dirt would probably be able to find it if he tried to keep it hidden. There having enough trouble just trying to get a Black President elected...

Knowing the mind set of the over all populace and the mix reactions that will most likely inssue, I highly doubt that he/she would be stupid enough to do that, also, if and when it does come up, it will most likely be down played as best as possible and focus on maters that the canidate in questions strong points. How ever, a gay canidate will most likely will not be in office.

I wouldn't put it past Hillary to be surpressing a little gayness.

I just think we'd be crazy to focus on our president's sexual orientation. Infact I disslike when the adveradge person makes a focal point out of their sexual preferences. Then again, I don't know what its like to be gay... I never felt oppressed because of my sexual prefference (because I'm straight). Maybe if I were, I would want to defend it, and thusly would have\or want to draw attention to it.... But from where I sit, I think its a bit much. To have parades, and wear patches, sport bumper stickers on their cars. I mean, sex and who you prefer to have it with should be a personal issue. I dont see anyone having a "I make over 35k a year" parade... because thats nobody's business.

Anyway, I digress.... Presidents are chosen by popular vote, if we elected a homosexual then It would have to be a homosexual person that made one hell of a good impression on we, the people.

honestly, to say, there is so much controversy on a black president, and a homosexual one might have the same impact. Lots of people are open for change and thus Obama will have votes. A gay president would have the same amount of votes because the people who vote for Obama are open for change and so a gay president might make our opressed people, less opressed. Im not gay, im straight but if the person leading us was gay, i'd feel uneasy because he isn't like me and has different opinons. yet i feel that every person is different and so we will all disagree with each other. Homosexuality was always alive and so having a gay president will com in time because black people were on the earth as long was white people and finally we have a chance of having our first black president.
