Thread: What would happen if the president was GAY!!

Hm, well, in my opinion, I don't think it matters, really...

I mean, like, who cares if he was Gay? As long as he ran the country right, I don't really give a care. I just care about a GOOD president who makes GOOD decisions. His orientation dosen't have anything to do with it, really...

But, that's just what I think. It dosen't matter if he was or not~

like i was saying, being gay or not, is not the deciding factor if your going to be a good president or not.

LOL That wouldn't be a shock to me since here in Portugal we all know that our prime minister is gay and we don't care but he didint come out of closet yet!

It's difficult to say what would follow if whoever gets elected turns out to be gay, but it cannot be said for certain that his sexual orientation would have any bearing on his administration. Of course, there would be an excited titter running through conversations and forum exchanges and whatnot everywhere because of his gayness; that cannot be avoided.

But what does matter is whether the president, gay or not, can rise to the situation and sufficiently address the pressing issues of the day. He must pick his battles well, and he must pull through and win them. Nothing more, nothing less. A good deal of great leaders of ancient Greece (such as Alexander) were either bisexual, as most Hellenic men of that day were, or gay through and through -- yet that did not interfere with the way they ran things. In fact, they are remembered mainly not for their gayness, but mainly for what they did for their country and the legacy they bequeathed to us moderns. Their homosexuality remained, for the most part, a coincidence.

Whether he be gay or not, whatever happens during those four years rests largely on the president's competence as a leader.

I believe that some people would try to make a big deal out of the president if he happened to be gay...
To me however, it would make no difference whether he or he was straight or not

It's kinda sad when people put more emphasis on sexual orientation than on problems that actually matter. Sexual orientation affects NOBODY. At least when people are tolerant of it.

And since a lot of people are intolerant, a gay president would be considered just as bad as President Bush is. His life might even be put in jeopardy, at times.
