what would happen if the United States was to elect a Black man for President? Is our country "ready" for one?
Now I am not racist, nor do i underestimate the candidate, but personally I do not think that our country is ready for a Black President. Honestly, I don't think our country is prepared to have a woman as President.

What do you guys think?

If Obama gets elected as president.....he will of course make history.......
I think that America is totally ready for a fresh face.....either a black man or a woman.....
Come one.....anybody is better that Bush....I can't wait for the day when he leaves office.....
I think that Obama has a lot of great ideas for the future and he will bring a fresh perspective to the modern day politics..
He is very popular........I mean...he did win the Iowa caucus...and that does speak a lot of words for the upcoming election.......

It wont happen this time, He just wont carry the south. There are too many racist & sexist ppl in this county still. There not ready for a black or woman president. Maybe in the next one or more in likely the one after that.

Yes anyone is better that bush, but to racist a black man isn't. Thats why the Democrats always lose, they pick the wrong ppl to represent them. Can you say Al Gore? If they would pick some older lookin white guy like Clinton, hed win in a landslide.

i have to i think its possible but if it were to happen i think there would be problems.
cause the rasist wouldn't like being run by a black man.

and as for a women i dont thnk any women is suited for being able to rule over so many people. I have my resons and i am women my self so yea.

Maybe fifty years down the road this country will be ready for a Black President. Just the fact that Obama is the first black candidate to win in the Iowa caucus is a sign that some Americans are comfortable with a Black man running the country.

Countless other nations have had strong successful woman leaders in the past. So why can't we follow the trend? Pakistan had Bhutto (who died recently died. Which is a shame.) France has a female president (can't think of her name), Britan also had Margret Thatcher.

I would actually want Obama to succeed, granted he maybe young but he seems dedicated and could really help this country out. Same with Hillary.

I think if our country elected a black president... we would have a black president.

Obviously if he won the election, we're "ready" for it... once he's won, I don't see how he'd be any different than any other president.

I hate to break it to you but you need to brush up on your presidential history. There is a huge gap between the president who gave the united states a name accepted by the world and a seat on the united nations and you shouldn't even dare compare them to the modern day puppets that are elected into office. I am not against having a "black" (who cares what color you call them they're still people) person as president I just want it to be someone with a little intelligence and backbone and a person who isn't going to send the entire world to hell in a handbasket. (am I allowed to say that? I didn't see any rules against it and i read them three or four times.)
