I have friends who invite themselves over, poke through my DVD and book shelves and simply take what they want (with the assumption that they'll bring it back). I do the same with theirs. On the other hand, we frequently force loans... Just last week I was given a book and told "You have to read this and tell me what you think" while I gave a whole bag to my neighbor unsolicited. So it really depends on your relationship.

![]() ![]() Credits: 9,052 | Re: what would you do if (asked to lend)..... Depends... just a "friend"? Or a "true friend"? Only got one true friend, and she comes over everyday... sooo, it's not like she can hide things from me. If it's just a friend, I'd simply say "maybe later" or "nope"... I trust a friend as I do a total stranger... because they're about the same to me. I have to make sure that since this is MY STUFF they're talking about, they have to follow MY rules... and I have to make sure that I PROTECT MY STUFF from them... I usually make a situation where they HAVE to return it to me, or a situation where I can keep an eye on them at all times... ...but if I owe them one, I'm more willing to let them borrow... If you earned what you have fair and square: Whether they asked nicely or command it from you, they have no right to "borrow" (take) it from you. Unless of course you're filthy rich and most of your things are just shallow pleasures, then it's your duty to make others enjoy what you've "earned". |

Well see with me if I have spent say, 50 bucks on an anime series and someone wants to borrow it, I dont care if I can trust you completely or not, if your going to borrow it I am going to ask for collateral or something incase it is damaged or what not I have means to buy it back, however, if it is an anime I like watching, I way sure but I get to watch with ya, and my friends understand, it is called, protecting your investments. lol.

![]() ![]() Credits: 7,757 | Re: what would you do if (asked to lend)..... Well for me it really depend on the history i've had with that person. i mean with most of my close friends, where we've known each other for like most of our lives it's normal for us to go up to each other and pretty much say "yep i'm so borrowing this" or "Taxing this" and what not. Like right now i got like an entire stack of CD's that i've borrow for over a month now. But if its someone that i don't know very well, or if i generally dis-like them. i would say no without a second thought. Also if i've lent them stuff in the past which they have never return u can pretty much guess what my answer would be. But thats only for material objects and stuff. When it comes down to borrowing money, it's an entirely different story.

Yeha if you have spent most of your life with one of your friends it would be easy to understand however some people (like myself) dont have child hood friends around so I have to do things the way I do them, so yeah I here ya though dude101 it is easy for childehood friends to just do that, you know how the other person is and know how they will treat your stuff.

And my friends let me borrow stuff. Now if it was someone that i didn't really know then i would question it. Newbie | Re: what would you do if (asked to lend)..... My friend and I fall on either side of "demanding" to borrow something. Sometimes she'll politely ask if she can borrow something, and then some days she'll just pick up my bag and start goung through it, taking what she pleases. And I'm the same way. And yeah, we volunteer loans a lot... we're always trading something. I think if she said "you have to let me borrow this," it would be because she was really excited about it... but otherwise, I'd just say "no, I don't." [Then I'd give it to her anyway..]

![]() Credits: 49,132 | Re: what would you do if (asked to lend)..... I would simply let him/her borrow that thing or movie or whatever. I'm one of the people who find it hard to say "No", especially if it's smething unimportant as a movie. I am not Enlgish so I won't bug people with the "is that a question or a statement" thing unless I use it as a joke... I think it's a bit mean too... |
