I haven't posted enough however I'm going to comment on the Rapture and the Book of Revelation.
The Rapture is a new age theory that has never been taught prior to the 1800's. Not many denominations agree on the theory nor do they think it's scriptual. The reason for this is because many theologians and historians believe the Book of Revelation where many believe is talking about the Rapture.
However the Book of Revelation is speaking about the opposite. It's talking about the past not the future. The author John (which could be a different John versus John the Baptist) wrote the Book of Revelation as a letter to Early Christians living in the Asian Minor to not give up hope in the face of persecution. To not give up on their faith, even as they're being thrown to lions, killed, etc. To have hope that one day all the people who are persecuted will change their mind and will believe.
The different monsters shown in Revelation each correspond to an ancient civilization that once conquered the land of Judea which is now know as Israel. This ranges from Babylon all the way to Rome. What furthers this is the mention of the Mark of the Beast: 666. The number is not referring to Satan but to one Caesar Nero. who's name according to Jewish Numberology equals to 666. (His name being Cesare Neron.)
The Left Behind books and the idea of the Rapture are just fiction. If you dig into the Bible deep enough you'll see that there is more to the story than reading it at face value and taking it as literal meaning.
