Still, is this any worse the Post Office workers going 'Postal'!!! Pastors are humans, just like everyone else.... And if you're human, then these kind of things do happen....
Holy crap! Check this out: Cameras, cell records link Minneapolis pastor to killing | StarTribune.com
To sum things up, a pastor shoots a man who was seeing his estranged wife. A FRIGGIN' PASTOR!! Now, I'm not gonna have a biased opinion because I go to church or because I went to the high school the victim worked at. But, it poses an interesting question.
When a "servant of God" takes the life of another human being, does that mean he gets to repent and all is well (like, does he get to go to heaven)? There are criminals in prisons who think the same thing. "Oh, I've been reading this bible for the last ten years I've been locked up and I prayed and asked for forgiveness. So, I'm going to heaven, despite murdering someone and taking their daughter's...." You get the point. But, this man was a PASTOR! He is supposed to be a messenger of God! So, because he and his wife were having marital issues and his wife (what I'm assuming) didn't want to be with him anymore, that gave him the right to shoot a man? Do you think that his shot of getting in to heaven is the same as our chances or the chances of a criminal?
This is a question that probably doesn't have a definite answer but, I'd still like to hear your opinions.

That's true. I just find it odd, I guess. When I was growing up, I always thought that if anyone was to uphold a strict moral code and live by it, no matter what kind of pressure came their way, it would be a pastor. Guess I was wrong. LOL.
I mean, how does one justify those kind of actions. Plus, I'm sure there were plenty of other people who looked up to both the victim and the culprit or sought advice from one or the other.
Pastors, priests and the like put themselves in a very vulnerable position when they stand at the altar every Sunday. Not only must they preach the teachings of the bible, but they must do everything they can to follow those believes so's to set an example and not come off as a hypocrite. We are so obsessed with irony and hypocrisy ,it is inevitable for us to ridicule someone who hasn't "practiced what they preached", even in a single instance. But according to Christian religion that is not enough to get them eternal damnation. Just because you lead your church and preach all of these things then break one of the teachings doesn't make the crime worse than if you were one of the people sitting in the crowd listening every Sunday, at least in the eyes of the Lord. Because we are all equal in the eyes of the Lord, so long as the pastor accepts that only through Christ can his sin be forgiven, he can still make it to heaven.
Of course on Earth, we're a little more harsh in our punishment.

Any sin is repentable, save one, and according to what I've read it's Blasphemy of the holy ghost. That being said, like Len said, we're only human; even pastors. To me, I'll leave that aspect to God to judge; it's between the pastor and God. However it still doesn' absolve him of his crime on earth and, not jus' in his religion's eyes but the law's as well, what he did was wrong. He'll haveta face a judgement of a different kind here on earth now.![]()

You all make good points and I agree with you. I don't think anybody would be considered less than equal to anyone else in the eyes of God. I suppose I over reacted when I read the article. However, one of the ten commandments says that you should not kill. So, I still have this icky feeling about the subject. I mean, what if the pastor just gave up on God, causing him to snap like that? I guess we'll never know and I'm not God, so I can't say whether or not he's going to heaven or hell.
You didn' overract, atomik, you fell inta that trap that we all fall inta which means that you're normal. We often place ppl in positions like that on a glass pedistal and, because they're in a position of leadership, we expect them to behave like they are not human. I know that I've done it a myself and it's difficult not to. We have expectations of our leaders, some that are achieveable and some that are jus' unrealistic, and being a person of spiritual leadership; the pastor is in a very precarious position. He needs to be an example to his spiritual community, however he is still swayed by the same feelings and emotions that we are. And those emotions are not easy to control, this is one of the reasons why we all make mistakes. It's all part of being human.![]()

a person is a person, it doesn't even matter what kind of position do you hold. we do good and also bad, it's typical for every person. and most important of all, no one is above the law, no one.
