where do we start?
so as everyone can see when they filp on the tv late night-- there are campaigns about "stop hunger in africa" or "send children to school in korea"
what do you all think about this??
america is in debt, we need a stronger army(enrollment is down), teen pregnancy needs to be stopped, school shootings, social security is about to raise up to 70, and the stock market plumits each day(which effects my college fund)
so the question is where do we start?
do we fix america before we start fixing the other countries, or do we take what messed up affairs we have and share them?
remember, keep it **CIVIL**

Re: where do we start?
Sorry darling that your college fund is messed up but if you really strain your brain hard enough you'll realize that America doesn't need a stronger army if their economy is down they need more negotiaters to make deals with countries so your economy rises through trade not making other countries and your own economy fall through war.
It would benefit America if they started with the problems surrounding teenagers because they are the future of the economy.
I live in Africa and I say that there are people starving here but there's nothing you can do about it because if other countries donate money for food aid the corrupt politicians here would use it for expensive cars. For example the place I live "Swaziland" has the highest AIDs infection percentage in the world and the king who rules here is driving a car worth millions of rand instead he could have used that money to buy ARVs for the country or spend it on campaigns against AIDs.
Another thing is my mother is the head of the AIDs department here and she works so hard to help Swaziland and when she does something that betters the country other people take the glory but she doesn't care as long as Swaziland becomes better.
We need people like my mother to be here not soldiers and one amazingly frustrating paradox is that if you pump money into corrupt nations governments to help their people the politicians will use it for their own improvement while their country falls into chaos.

Re: where do we start?
I agree with Wish. We should start with the teenagers. They are the key to our future seeing as how most are ready to vote for the next president and a lot of other things within the states. We don't need more soliders dieing for a futile cause. We need to discover the cures for our diseased. The only way possible unless you want to stop the deforestification in the Amazon, is through stem-cell research. We need to stop giving money to the oil companies and start using bio-fuel, making hydrogen fuel cells. We need to feed our starving children, adopt the kids who have no homes and take care of our homeless. Before we can move onto other countries cause if you look at it to everyone else we look like hypocrites. If we can't take care of our own country what makes you think we can take care of others.

Re: where do we start?
I agree that we need better sources of fuel however it's not a good idea to use hydrogen cells yet.. they're still too unstable... however it's not entirely impossible to change over to natural energy (which is more efficient then gasses and nuclear energy any ways) until the hydrogen cell has been stabilized because with the state that it's in now... the world would just use it as a weapon... which brings me to another point.
There are two ways that we can do things... fight wars with eachother and exaust all of the resources that our planet has to offer (leading to extinction) or get over our bloody selves and realize that everyone on this planet is human or a damn good imposter and start working together to find a better alternative to the outdated means by which we've lived so far, one that will support our growing world population.

Re: where do we start?
I must agree on all that has been said. But its hard to do all those things when greedy selfish and uncaring people in the world who take all the things that were ment to benifit others for their own personal gain. We know what the problems are and we have the ability to solve them, but the one thing that will be the biggest step that needs to be taken before we can do any of those things is this... We as Humans need more Humanity for one another.

Re: where do we start?
SO my response is... if you really want to make a difference in this world and you're one of the few who aren't corrupt already work your ass off to make it to the top. That goes for all of us that way, we can make a better tomorrow. It's as simple as that if we want the countries to be run good then we need good people in office all around the world the only way to make it there is to become so good at what it is that you do that people have to listen. That's just how this world works.

Re: where do we start?
I know that I'm probably just sounding negative but here's a very accurate quote "power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely" a good example is animal farm people should read it. Basically it shows us human nature at it's best we are selfish and that's what hurts so much and the funny thing is I can say yeah I'm gonna be helpful when I become rich but I'm not right now and words are only words who knows if I forget my cause on the way there.
