    Alvin & the chipmunks is a classic, perhaps one of my favorites from my youth (Pinky and the Brain was Spielberg's best work [only sort of joking]), that being said, I'm kind of slack at catching theater releases, but I'll catch it on DVD.

    This is just going to be another failed attempt to squeeze a few extra dollars out of an already exhausted franchise. Turning these squeaky chipmunks in to what looks like "gangsters" is going to be an embarrassment to the original series. Most likely I'm not going to watch this movie at all. Its not even worth going to the library to get the DVD for free.

    I agree with you there, but the reason for the "gangster" image is so it can appeal to the now generation. I mean that is what they did in the 80s with the songs they sang. But yea, hopefully the movie is going to be better than the stupid movie poster.

    I didn't know wearing sunglasses, a hat, & hoodie made you a "gangster".?. lol Well n*e*ways I can remember I use to watch that show all the time with my older sister & we both would sing the songs with them... I also remember me & my friends would say that we were them... I was Alvin of course!!! ^_^ & we had these girls to be Brittany, Eleanor, & Jeanette... Only thing was I wanted me who was Alvin for my girl to be Jeanette cause I use to think she was HOT!!! (I don't know there was always something about Jeanette)... lol Well I think I am going to see the movie, but I haven't been to the movies in a minute & there has been movies I said I really wanted to see & never did until it came out on dvd... So who knows.?.

    I definitely agree there. On "Alvin and the Chipmunks", they sang the hits of the 80's. That was then. This is now.
    Like I said! If they're not attracting old fans, they're gaining new ones.

    Maybe it's the way we worded it? They're not "gangsters". They're "gangsta rappers". D:

    I probably won't go see it in theaters but will probably end up buying it once its on video out of curiosity. I think that this cartoon was better off that way not taken to the next level. Way to ruin a good one hollywood!

    This isn't the first time either, I mean look at Rocky and Bullwinkle, Dudley do right, Underdog, Garfield, and Scooby Doo. Classics on the hands of Hollywood don't always come out flowers and rainbows ;-;

    The worst thing about these remakes is that there are no more fresh ideas. Instead of making something new they try to reinvent the old ideas which usually doesn't work due to the fact that the originals were made for the era that they became great in. Alvin and the Chipmunks were made for 90's and not 2007. History shows that remakes always tend to fail or go straight to DVD.
