    Band: Wolfmother

Hey There Dudes/Dudettes! I've recently bought an Album by an otherwise unknown band (to me) called Wolfmother. It has been described as Pop Style music, but after listening to all 13 tracks beleive this is a wrong assumtion!

Rather than stick to one particular style, they have created an interesting mix of Geners that seem to meld together perfectly and give them a Unique sound to their music!

Tracks like 'Woman' and 'Apple Tree' have a faced paced Thrash rythem to them, but with Punk-like vocals.
'Colossal' is more like Old Skool Rock.
Then you have 'Joker & The Theif' that sounds like the more modern styled Metal like Foo Fighters.

I could harp on all day about each Track, but was just wondering if anyone else has heard of them and/or any of their songs and what they think?

I bought the CD after seeing the video for 'Love Train' on TV late one night. Their shit is awesome.

But whoever's been describing the music to you needs an HCl enema. Wolfmother's sound is akin to late 60's/early 70's power rock. Get your hands on some Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Black Sabbath, Mountain, early Rush, Deep Purple or Cream and you'll see what I mean.

Anyone interested should check out check out Wolfmother's Web Page for band info and to hear some tracks.

Funnily enough, I have several CD's for all those bands you've mentioned. I grew up with music from the early 60's onwards so have a varied taste in Music.

I actually downloaded 'Pyramid' and 'Joker & The Theif'. After loving those 2 Tracks bought the Album and have never looked back. Sadly, not many people seem to realise their greatness.

Wolfmother is quite awesome, they are differently from all the others. They've definitely mixed up their genre music and created some great track like Joker and a Thief and Woman.

    Thanks for the siggy Ky-lyrra

    Re: Band: Wolfmother

Hooray for Australian bands. They also played on the MTV music awards last year I think.

I haven't gotten into them myself but I can see why so many people have. It's almost refreshing to see a band that don't rely on pretty singers, pretty dancers and "sexy" dance moves. They're music is something that isn't often seen on the charts, especially in Australia where it's either Pussy Cat Dolls or Black Eyed Peas.

On tv they were saying that Wolfmother was sopposed to be a mix of my favorite two bands Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Wolfmothers pretty good. So far the best new band ive heard. But they can never be as good as the two bands they are trying to sound like.

I seriously doubt that anyone will be bigger and/or better that Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden or Motor Head, but as 'New' bands go, have gotta be the best out there in my opinion! I hope that rock will be making a more than welcomed comeback.
