Thread: halo movie!

I can't say I'm overly excited about the Halo movie.....or excited at all, really. the game was good, but I don't think it warrants a movie. I don't know how they'll keep the audience intrigued with a guy in an armor suit without ever seeing his face....(I don't think Bungie would allow them to show his face, considering his almost God-like status in the game)......Plus, Peter Jackson is a sham director. Sure, LOTR was good (didn't see Kong), but if you give anyone the same budget he got for those movies, of course the movie is gonna be spectacular.....he did not deserve all those oscar awards and nominations.

Also, Peter Jackson made an absolutely horrible movie way back when he was a no name...it was called "Meet the Feebles" or something like that, and pretty much the movie was muppets on crack (literally).....I was up late one night watching tv and it came on, and I saw the name "Peter jackson" so I watched it for a bit, and it was absolutely horrible. All the characters were muppets, and they all did drugs, had muppet sex, and went around killing one another.

But besides Peter Jackson, I still just don't think a Halo movie is going to be that great. Most movies based on video games suck, or at the very best a only 'decent.' I can't think of any video game movies off the top of my head that have been astonishing, or better than the game.

Now I'm not a direct fan of Peter Jackson's, but I have to admit, his LOTR work was worth an oscar or two. Plus, how big a budget can be does not determine the quality of the movie, for proof, see Star wars : prequels, and compare X-men 3, to it's predecessors, and then ask why small budget movies(30 days, Napoleon Dynomite) turn out to be fan favorites/cult classics. It's all based on the director involved. There's a big difference between telling it like it is(fact), and telling it like you see it(opinion).

This is common, almost every big-time director has started out with a shady past and has done something big throughout his or her filmography timeline, which made the person a "name" in the industry.

Just in case some people here misinterpreted what I previously said, Neill Blomkamp is the director of this movie. Mr. Jackson is the producer. Difference.

Lets just hope they dont SUCK the entire game into crappy oblivion with bad character casting or something dumb like that. I wasn't too "WOW"ed by Doom myself.. aside for the BFG being an actual gun *grins like a fool*
I'd go see it though, just to kill my curiosity, or.. to get out of the house, whichever becomes more prominant first.

i think the Halo movie will be better than doom. And with the effects that they have know, it will turn even better.

Yeah, every director has his start, but jeez did Meet the Feebles suck....if you ever get the chance to see it, don't....

I just don't think this movie will be that great....it'll just be "ooh, special effects! ooh, more special effects!" and then they'll substitute even more special effects for storyline.

The Resident Evil games have wicked storylines.....and the first movie wasn't that bad (nothing great, but fairly decent zombie flick), and then they just screwed up the series with Resident Evil: Apocalypse. That movie sucked......

Doom was an absolute joke of a movie. I rented it fully expecting a cheesy movie...I simply wanted a no-brainer action movie, but it even let down my low expectations.

Mmm, the movies based on a videogame always are bad movies or trash productions. I think the Halo movie won't be reality or the fans of the VG will destroy Peter Jackson. Will be very difficult made a movie of Halo for the graphics and the story mode. One adaptation is not a solution.

One more thing: Universal and fox don't participate in the proyect anymore. Only Jackson

Sorry I know it's totally off topic but I couldn't help myself lol. Peter Jackson is not a sham lol. yes, "meet the feebles" was horrid. But the way he brought LOTR together was magic, I doubt very much anyone else could have pulled it off, especially such a loved book. It's not the budget when it comes to movies it's the actors, story and the behind the scene people..I could name plenty of movies with high budgets that were bad..but then again it could just come down to some ones personal opinion about them..

All those oscars, predominantly for special effects and costumes, best director (i think) he deserved, well compared to alot of other movies that were out at that time.

With Resident Evil I thought quite the opposite. but yes they were only ok..

Doom was really bad...I've never played the games, but I have hopes that they are better.

as for a halo movie, it will be hard to pull of, but I do have hope if PJ is doing it, he pulled of the last adaptation he did (LOTR), but can he do a game adaptation?

I personally would like to see a really good adaptation of Perfect Dark....
