I've played it on the GBA and the Gamecube and I want to on the DS. Most of my friends think its boring but I love it. Its always changing and you can't just do the same thing each time you play it. Has anyone played both the male and female versions? I like both of those. Plus there is the new one. Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland. I think its going to be pretty good too.

i thoroughly enjoy Harvest Moon! i've played the DS (Harvest Moon DS), GameCube (It's a Wonderful Life) and PS2 (It's a Wonderful Life Special Edition) versions!

i liked the GameCube version all around, simple to use and understand! lots of recipies and eveeryone seemed very friendly. it also felt a lot more nature-orientated... i loved fishing by the river and going up to the waterfall.

i liked the PS2 version only becuz you finally got to marry Lumina... she seemed the nicest and the most loyal of the girls, which is why i picked her... in the GC version, i went for Celia... she was okay, but i always felt like she had an affair with that black haired guy...

as for the DS... i still haven't gone through my first year... it's so hard! a lot harder than the others i've played... i was never very rich in any of them, but in the DS version i'm dirt poor pretty much all the time... i like all the options though, it's just for some reason i suck at making money :P

however, i'm not much for crops (maybe a reason why i'm never rich), i like taking care of animals and trees better. My favorite are sheep cuz they're simple to care for and really cute! but i love caring for everyone else like cows and chickens and ducks! i like to grow trees becuz you don't have to water them and if you get the seed maker, you can soon be rolling in some money...

^_^ but i must say, i am a damn good melon farmer! in the GC version, at least...

I've played the GBA: Friends in Mineral Town, GC: A Wonderful Life, and the DS version: Harvest Moon DS. All of them quite enjoyable. I dunno what it is about Harvest Moon but it gets quite addicting after you get settled in within the game. LOL

I like how the game lets you do what you want. You can grow crops, raise animals, mine, fish, and find yourself a nice gal. (or guy if you're playing "More Friends of Mineral Town" or "Another Wonderful Life") Quite a bit of freedom that they offer.

Sure, at the begging you're starting off slow but once you get going than its usually smooth sailing from there on.

Its just a game that you either love or a game that makes you say "Meh...its ok to kill time I guess".
Same here!! DS version is kinda hard to get settled into. I finally made it to the Summer of my first year and I've yet to expand my house or get livestock. I gave up on crops after the season changed. Too much work to keep it together.

i know! Soshi says that's how the SNES version was, but i don't know how people can plant all those crops! and maintain them!

of course, in the DS version, you can hire Harvest Sprites to help you do chores (they can water crops, take care of animals, gather lumber/stone etc), but it takes a LOOOOOOOOONG time for them to get any good...

my main source of income in the DS is gathering stuff like a freakin nomad! i'm trying to work my way up to raise sheep and trees, but it's so hard to earn money and to get everything ready... and i'm trying to get really good at fishing so i can win this one girl's heart, but i have to be Daryl's friend first in order to get to her!

>_< and stupid Soshi! he can make millions in any Harvest Moon by "managing his time" or whatever! i think he's cheating... and while he's making millions, he wins every girl's heart and is friends with everyone and has the best stuff! becuz in that game, you really have to know what you're doing in order to make any profit... kinda like in real life... and that sucks too!

Yeah, in the DS version you have to "pay" the harvest sprites to do your chores for you. If I remember correctly in the older ones you'd only have to win their friendship and keep it up to get their help. (Sure, you'd have to put in time and effort but I think its better than having to pay them with the casino coins that you have to win)

...I have no income. My day goes as: Wake up > Lift cat+dog > Mining for gifts, etc. > pick up ALL available herbs, fruits etc. > Give gifts to girl > Spend the remainder of day chopping wood, breaking stones (for expanding farm), or fish til stress+fatigue is maxed out.

(o.O)? You're trying to win over Leia too? Yeah, getting Daryl to be your friend first is a pain. But I just give him the poisonous weed/herbs. He likes the grass/herbs so why not get rid of the useless poisonous ones!? Hehehehe...I've tried to catch fish for Leia too but...OMG!! It takes forever!!!

^o^ OMG! my day is like exactly the same! except i don't pass out, i usually try to get home before that! but i feel bad becuz i can't participate in any of the contests! i'm not even close to getting enough for a kitchen!

=_= playing it is fun, but i remember i got so far and made a lot of money... but then my DS over heated (i think) and it froze... and i didn't remember when i saved...

^o^ i practically stopped playing the game after that! i still play once in a while, i've got some trees planted and i've got a silo set up for the grass i've been growing...

=_= but i still have a long way to go!

and befriending Daryl is hard, i'm trying to give him a lot of fish so he'll be my friend faster and so i can be prepared to fish for Leia too... =_____= but it's even harder since i suck at pretty much everything in the game!


but it's wierd! i still keep playing becuz i know that i can accomplish it, and that when my farm is great i can raise my family and stuff! ^_^ that's kinda how i am in real life too... but i also suffer from the "stressing the heck out of myself" thing too!

thank you, haha i picked up HM: a wonderful life (i think LOL) and i really love it. one of the best games ive played . LOL i forgot i have a emulator haha ill just have to do that thanx again.

hehe its a console game! its on a lot of consoles, playstation, playstation 2, gamboy advance, nintendo ds, psp (i think), gamecube, nintendo 64, and its gonna be on the Wii as well i believe! there are a lot of different versions of it lol its pretty fun ^_^
