I know many of you didn't like it, but then maybe you shouldn't have watched it or read the book first so you would have known.

click to show spoiler As for where I get the Christian aspects: click to show spoiler Christianity isn't universal I'm afraid... nor is monotheism or religion in general... How would you feel being a black person going to a film that pops out in its final third with a not-so-subtle white supremacist message? Or a homosexual going to see a film that features an effeminate gay villain and a handful of insensitive gay jokes? Or Jerry Fallwell in RENT? Because I'm pretty sure that's how quite a few atheists felt in "I Am Legend"... a wee bit uncomfortable. Last edited by tsurara; Dec 17, 2007 at 05:29 AM. | |

I can see where you get the Christain aspect if you look at it that way, but the only people who look for that kinda stuff are those who have something against it. Everyone else can just enjoy the movie for what it is.

is backkk | i really thought it was pretty awesome. most of the story line was indifferent to most movies. but i agree the ending could have been better. the ending didnt RUIN the movie but i dont think id watch it again. i love the thought of isolation and the acting was great.. i guess it was really just the ending that was a bit off

*sob*![]() i really did stop liking the movie as much after the chick found him, i think it kinda took away from his isolation. methinks if they wanted to go with the theme like that, it would have been better if they hadn't shown up, or shown up and died. then he finished the cure, blah blah blah and didnt die at the end. or at least not pull an Al Queada.

) case it wount have been soo good. he was working on a cure in the begining, and if they didnt do anything else with it, it kinda would have been pointless, dont you think?

![]() ALso i wouldn't call the Zombies just "different from us". I don't see anything that shouldn't be existing as normal. I would compare them to rabbit dogs that need to be put down. When they became zombies they lost all of their humanity.Though curing them would have been a better route. PS:Before you ask, I see gays as normal and should be existing. No i wouldn't have them put down. lol Quote:

![]() ![]() Credits: 61,124 | Re: I Am Legend I would argue that a major nationwide boycott, mass e-mails being sent, warning pamphlets sent to diocese across the country and gads of news coverage make the Christians out as bigger, and more powerful complainers than the atheists. Perhaps you don't notice because you're on the "right" side. It's difficult to reject the religious status quo in post September 11th America as questioning God or the government suddenly equals questioning all that is good, hopeful and American. I think the non-religious or differently-religious of us who have to endure nativity scenes, religious songs at department stores, the mandatory pledge of allegience at school, the insertion of "God" into our scouting pledges, prayer before games, random sermons from strangers, and the president declaring himself a vehicle of the good of God are entitled to a bit of complaining. When something is percieved as unfair, that makes it a bit more bitter. I wouldn't be as striken by "I Am Legend"s religious overtones if the church hadn't just thrown a 3 month-long shit-fit over "The Golden Compass" |
