They're actually all Korean, but SM Entertainment has BoA and THSK/TVXQ/DBSK/DBSG working in Japan right now to expand their market and "conquer Asia." 13-member Kpop band (soon to be 14) Super Junior, though, has never released an album in Japan. Their activities center mainly around Korea (although they're creating a sub-group to break through the Chinese market).

Younha who sings the third theme for Bleach is also Korean.

Okay this is gong to be super long.

If you're the type to jump on the bandwagon, you could try looking at the Oricon music charts and seeing what's most popular in Japan right now.
ORICON STYLE

Today's ranking (11/20/2007): Top SIX

1) Ultra Music Power - Hey!Say!JUMP
Unfortunately the group that currently holds first place on the music chart is Hey!Say!JUMP, a group of ten young Japanese boys from Johnny's Juniors whose singing makes my ears bleed. I refuse to share a link to their awful song. But hey, Japan likes anything cute, so...

2) 蒼く 優しく (Aoku Yasashiku) – Kobokuro
YouTube - Kobukuro - Aoku Yasashiku (PV)

3) Hurry Xmas – L’arc~en~Ciel
LEGEND!!! Hyde+Tetsu, istill<3u.
YouTube - Hurry Xmas - L'Arc-en-Ciel FULL PV
I'd also like to throw out these OLD OLD songs from Laruku (from way back, when I was in the fandom lol):
- Driver's High (GTO theme)
- Blurry Eyes

4) Weeeek - News
In fourth place is another JE band BUT I TOTALLY RECOMMEND THIS SONG IT'S SUPER CUTE AND ADDICTIVE!! And not in the pedophile way like Hey!Say! is.
YouTube - NewS - Weeek
(Note to Tesshi: I turned my head for just a bit and you became such a slut while I wasn’t looking D:!)

Oh, and there's this anime-related song from News
Sayaendou (One Piece the Movie theme)

5) 旅立ちの唄 - Mr Children
Mr Children is recommended if you like good ballads.
YouTube - mr.children 旅立ちの&#2 29;”„　PV

[B]6)B] 浮世CROSSING (ukiyo CROSSING) – UVERworld
YouTube - UVERworld - Ukiyo CROSSING [PV]
(UVERWOOOOOOOOOOORLD PWNS YO MOMMA!!)

And here are my favorites and recommendations…EDIT: sorry realized most of those weren’t J-pop, but I’ll leave them here anyways.
- Rain – Soulja (slow rap) (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED LIKE CRAZY SRSLY)
- Sleeper – D (jrock/visual kei)
(okay fine it’s just coz I think the main guitarist and drummer are pretty. So what?)
- Dakishimetai – Base Ball Bear (indie)
- Aishiteru - Base Ball Bear (indie)
- Sukiyanen – Kanjani8 (jpop, JE)
(OKAY THIS IS SO OLD HOMG but still my favorite Japanese song EVER XD. It’s so old I couldn’t find any of the perfs I wanted; they aren’t on Youtube anymore D:!)

I am currently obsessed with Tommy Heavenly6 (if it wasn't obvious from my signature),Yui, and Ikimono Gakari. i also like Hikaru Utada, High and Mighty Color, Dir en Grey (though it's more j-rock), Mika Nakashima, BoA, Anna Tsuchiya, Koda Kumi, Do as Infinity, Puffy Ami Yumi, ayaka, Yoko Kanno, Nana Kitade, and a few more that i can't think of right at the moment.

Most everyone mentioned the ones I listen, but try Beat Crusaders. They are one of my favorites. As well as Asian Kung Fu Generation.
Hmmm Akeboshi and RHYTHEM are pretty good as well.
It really depends on what you like.

Well I think we talking about J POP and AKF-Generation, Beat Crusaders defenily are not JPOP...They are pretty much Jrock!

But Akeboshi is really good I respect him so much!! he is very good in piano!!

Terribly sorry, my fault. The 2 genres seem to run together for me.
Making another contribution to the topic though, Yellow Generation is also good in my opinion. If that is another J/rock band I am sorry. I looked it up to double check and I was getting it was J/pop
