![]() ![]() Credits: 4,237 | *Music and emotions* I couldn't think of a good enough title sorry ^^;; Music is a powerful tool, it can make us feel emotions involuntarily and colour our moods, in addition it can affect our perceptions and generate a behavioural pattern. So when you listen to music what do you feel? Music evokes emotions, it is an indisputable fact.. but is there anyone who feels completely neutral to music? What type of music makes you feel a certain way? For egsample, lullabys can make people feel tired, the soft beat and the repition can lull a child to sleep. Please share your thoughts ^^ Sorry if this topic has been done before..

Upcoming Legend | Re: *Music and emotions* I feel pretty neutral to music myself. You can look at the music for movies, video games, anime, little things you pop into your head, and it all seems pretty unemotional to me. It may remind me of things, familiarity but nothing that really give me an emotion. The dun nu nu nu nu nu from Jaws or whatever just makes me think, hey it sounds like that little thing form Jaws |

I feel, I dont know how to put it in words... but I feel energetic... forget about everything... or when Im the one mixing music... I just close my eyes and let the music take me away... and when im listening to dark/goth metal.. I feel deep, like alone... a little bit with something like wrath... but in a way, calm... | Newbie | Re: *Music and emotions* I hate Rap, RnB, hip hop, electro and dance! I just find it annoying and it gives me a headache! I like to listen to Green Day or Foo Fighters when doing math! I don't know why! It just helps a lot for some reason! I like to listen to classical when doing normal study cause it relaxes me! I listen to Keane, Green Day, Foo Fighters, The Beatles, the Darkness, James Blunt, Oasis, Queen, The white stripes and Snow Patrol in general for unwinding! Thats a weird mix I know and a long list but sorry about that!

![]() ![]() Credits: 572 | Re: *Music and emotions* I listen to everything, so it really depends on the song, the lyrics, the music, etc. For example... lessee... Classic lullabies make me calm and at peace, though when I think about some of the lyrics, it kind of makes me feel sad (Rock-a-bye-Baby, Where is Jocha?). Depending on the intensity and speed, classical music makes me feel from a range of the normal relaxed, comfort, and sad feelings, while others make me feel energetic and annoyed ^^ I have a more techno-y version of beethoven's Fur Elise, for example, and I love to exercise to it - it makes me want to get pumped up ^_^ And then there's this piece I remember playing in Orchestra called "Peasants Dance", and while the first movement is happy and fun, when it comes to the slower part, I can't help but remember the classes where the viola section would just sit and listen to violins practice the entire time... got annoying ^^; Songs where the music overpowers the singer(s) voices tend to make me feel annoyed ^^; Sameway if the singer(s) voices overpower the music. I think I can think of more specific songs a little later that give more specific feelings (i.e. some Inuyasha ending songs make me feel cold, while others make me feel warm ^^; ). |
