Man that page takes for ever to load
yeah, they have another article on IGN if you perfer not have your compy die.
For the question above, Wii is pronounced "we" as in, we in france surrender.
I am in agreement with most of you, the revolution was a great name, but now...I just hope the specs will make up for it.
Im still gonna call it the Revolution. I would hate to use "wii" in my discussion with my friends XD

They still have time to rethink this. In Japan the name may stick. But US response is not good. Maybe it could be the Revolution in the US and Wii in Japan? Sorta like the Famicon in Japan as it was the NES in the US.
You know, I can actually see this happening in the future...Quote:

To the japanese, don't you think Wii is kinda cute and cuddly, alsmost as if its kiddy like, because Nintendo is a company that has alot of the childrens market, shouldn't have a childish, cutsey name? I think Dark Raven is correct, they will name it something else or at least keep the Revolution for the American and European markets, the name Wii sounds so japanese.
Also, do you think Nintendo would just randomly change its name, I don't think so, I am betting that in Japan, they did consumer studies and based on those, decided that they could market their console better with this name. Remember, I think Nintendo is trying to build a niche market, its letting Sony and Microsoft beat the shit out of each other at the top and when they both are broken, Nintendo will have a niche market where they can make a profit and have a user base.
