Nintendo of America confirmed pricing rumors for their next generation console on Thursday.

The company announced that their new machine, Wii, would not exceed $250 in America. Nintendo also said it plans to ship 6 million systems between its launch in the fourth quarter of 2006 and the end of its fiscal year in March 2007.

I htink that nintendo is oging to be big in the market of consoles again. Hopefully this will make up for the nintendo Ds which in my opinion was a total failure.

I believe that the Wii will completely own the ps3 during the innitial launch because of the price point, the incredible playing dynamic, and the surprising line up of good games. Yet when the ps3's price lowers after some time I believe that they will catch back up, its quality is just plain better. On another note the DS was quite good yet I believe that they didn't do what they could have with such an interesting play dynamic.

yes the Ds couldve done better, but instead of appealing to the rpg players they start the system off with the wrong set of games in my opinion.

yes Ng Wii is gonna destroy the ps3 in sales and in sale of games.

If they are to beat Xbox360 and the PS3 they'd better have some REALLY good games. Both the PS3 and the xbox360 have a lot of other functions to make them useful.

Well I suppose that we will see what happens, the major question is the price, no matter what the numerous functions if the populus can't afford/ won't be willing to pay the price

I don't think the Nintendo poses any threat to the PS3, only the nine year olds who are still obsessed with Pokemon and Zelda will want to buy one and no parent is going to spend 250$ for a brand new console on their nine year old kid, plus the controllers are way to complicated for any kid to play with...

250$ seems like a resonable price. Im most deff going to buy one just for super smash and it loooks like they added a good amount of new fetures so im pretty excited.

Im also hoping that they release some more "mature" types of games. Not just like mario and stuff some resident evil or w/e.

Pfft. The revolution controller is designed to unite veteran and new gamers alike. The intent of the Wii is to bridge the gap between gamers and new players.


As for launch titles, zelda is going to be the money raker. No one can deny the fanbase zelda has, I know I'm getting the Wii and that game ASAP. But they also are putting out project HAMMER, and the game Red Steel as well which both seem to give you a nice way to break in the new controls to learn. And like you've said, with the bargain price they're putting on the Wii, It would seem that nintendo has a small, but definate chance of beating the PS3 in sales at least at the start. Plus with SSBB coming in '07, and the virtual console and all, you'd be a fool NOT to get this awesome system.
