Notable Albums

Just about everyone enjoys listening to music, quite commonly in a more assorted fashion…

So my question is this:

Among all the collective CDs/soundtracks (meaning from one band/pair/group/artist/singer only) you own, which album(/s) do you most enjoy listening to and why?

As for me, I really take pleasure in propping up and listening to a round of Asian Kung-fu Generation’s Kimi Tsunagi Five M whenever, wherever…

I just love every head-banging bit of their tracks… ^^

From the light-hearted beginnings of Flashback, to the wickedly awesome guitar intro of N.G.S (Number Girl Syndrome), to the very upbeat Kimi to Ui Hana (A Flower Named After You) and then the highly stylized ender, No Name…

Addt’l Insert: What are some of the new bands/artist…etc. you’ve recently discovered and have made you think: “Where have you been all this time?” And which song of his/hers/theirs has managed to pioneer this turning point of yours?

Personally: Go! Go! 7188’s Kanngae Goto

For me it would be Pantera's 'Cowboys From Hell' from the CD of the same name. Dimebag Darrell just let his guitar shine, and back before the lead singer Phil Anselmo went all funhouse mirror his vocals would just cut you to the bone.

The album that I'll probably never get bored of is Songs for the Deaf by Queens of the Stone Age.

For me, QotSA is almost impossible to beat and this album is another proof why.

From the headshot of a first track (You think I ain't worth a dollar but I feel like a millionaire) to the insta-orgasm that is Go With the Flow and the last -secret- track Everybody's Gonna Be Happy this album just rocks your socks off.

The whole album is played like a mixture of different radio stations by the way.

great album right there. the best from qotsa. wish i could say the same about their last one. but anyways, the best album in my collection is Hoitovirhe by Turmion Katilot. never gets old. nothing wrong with overdosing on insane industrial metal.

The album that I am listening to constantly at the moment is SM by Metallica. I love that CD. There is just something about the mixture of metal and symphony music. You wouldn't think a combination like that would sound good but you would be surprised. I know I was.

Definitely a good album; I liked Metallica from the Master of Puppets days, but I really got into to the SM album (I love violins and cellos!).

At the moment, I'm listening to the "Lydia" from Yoko Kanno's Song to Fly, a soprano singing over a simple piano tune, then joined by a violin. The whole album is great; for anyone who's into the works of Kanno, I recommend it. The album has her usual mix of classical, operatic, contemporary pieces (well, just one "contemporary" piece), and stuff that's really just undefinable.

I's have to say Broken Social Scene - "Broken Social Scene" w/the EP "To Be You and Me" that came with the first pressing. I could listen to the same song for hours on this thing and any of their albums.

Recently I ran across this band called Sunset Rubdown, which is a new project consisting of Wolf Parade's lead singer. I can't stop listening to them. Wolf Parade is a good band that I love, but they seem to appeal to the punk rock crowd too much and were definately in need of a new sound. Sunset Rubdown delivers it.

This band also goes hand in hand with another called Swan Lake, both of their debut albums came out around the same time and feature the lead singer of Wolf Parade. The difference is that Swan Lake also has the lead singer of The New Pornographers, among others, and they also sound just incredible.

I got to say, I totaly agree with this. Wolf parade is one of my new favs, I love there music
