So the -previously leaked- slim PS3 has been officially announced for a September release.

Price tag: $299/€299/£249/¥29980
Storage: 120GB hard drive.
More connectivity between Sony TVs and the PS3.
Still only 2 USB ports, the memory card slots and backwards compatibility don't appear to be included.
"Users will not be able to install other Operating Systems to the new PS3 system."
It's unknown at this time if the hard drive can be swapped like on the fat PS3. <--Confirmed false, see my new post.

So? Interested in buying this baby? Most people's problem with the PS3 was the price tag and that at least has been made comparable to the Elite 360.

at the 300 dollar price point, Yes. its a much palatable price then the PS3 fat.

I'll wait till its in the pawn shops first, cheaper prices there, its where I got my 360.

Destructoid - You can still swap/upgrade hard drives on PS3 Slim

The hard drive can still be swapped.

Already have a PS3, so I won't be getting it, but interesting regardless, with this slimmer, more affordably priced PS3, maybe they'll finally start selling more of their systems now, the price at launch was outrageous. >_>

was planning to get a ps3 for a while now, glad for the lower pricing in sept.
but then again im jobless, so i proably won't be getting it any time soon.
