I'm surprised that the Wachowski brothers are working on this.

The trailer looks god-awful. I never watched too much of Speedracer, and I'm not a loyalist to the series, but they ruined any chance I'd ever actually spend money to see this.

It looks like pure crap.

I seen the preview of this and it looks like crap i will say,They should have just left it alone and kept it as a anime and not bring it to live action as they did.As in true Hollywood fashion they have screwed it up yet again.I will say that at least there consistent on there screw ups.

Damn, 1960? I'm not that old! Still remember watching it growing up, most cars designed with guns or some ranged weapons of some type, while Speed has nothing more dangerous than a pair of saws for cutting through stuff in his way, jumping devices of some sort (still remember that sound effect. SHA sha sha sha...) & a lid for the cabin so he can go underwater. To be honest, I've actually managed to somehow get a copy of the song they did. Not the theme song, it's kinda the theme remixed with other stuff into a proper song kinda think. Sorry if that doesn't make sense, but it's late when I'm typing & I think I'm drifting into autopilot...

I think I might have already seen one of the toys. I was in a shop a couple of days ago & spotted the good old Speed Racer logo. Having a peek, it turned out to be a deformed racer thing that uses a rope built into the back you pull to get it running. Thing is while it had the traditional Speed Racer paint job, something looked wrong, & not just the face it was deformed (think those "Cars" rip cord racer things, which also were nearby), but something else. Looking at the back, it turned out it was the Mach 6. Speed Racer drove the Mach 5 in the series, which still looks cool to this day. What's going on there? I thought they were redoing the Anime, but a movie? Hmmm, I'll see what others think of it first...

The Anime of SpeedRacer was old school anime
as for the movie watch news for the ratings of this movie.
I bet 1 to 10 it will stink.
it they keep it anime I think the japanese can do it better.

Yes i remember speedracer it was kinda dodjy like all those buttons he had to press for the car. Really could have worked on it a bit more.

johnny quest, space ghost, birdman...mostly action based hannah barbera cartoons.
i was expecting the car hater guy from the speed racer cartoon to be shown in the movie.

I loved Speed Racer as a kid. I understand that by today's standards its really crappy but I lov eit for the nostalgia that's involved. A bunch of my friends and me plan to go up and watch it on the day it comes out. Personally I think the movie is something only meant for those who either grew up with it as a child and loved it, or little kids around the age of 6. As for the new cartoons that were made. I really didn't much care for them. Speed Racer X wasn't bad but this newest one isn't something that should've been made or at least should've been made better.

I'm not too into Speed Racer, but seeing the trailers, I'm kind of liking what I'm seeing. I think it just might be a little too colorful though...

I wonder if they'll slip in the song made about the original series? Basically I mean the song I mentioned earlier, which has a bit of the theme song, then some similar music as it goes on about some guy gotten beaten by Speed Racer a year ago, & now is the time for their revenge (or something along those lines), the racing sound effects & some lines from the show, the girl telling Speed he was wonderful after he wins, then finishes with the bad guy saying "You have beaten us Speed Racer, but I solemnly swear you will pay for our defeat. We will race you again, soon! And we will beat you *Evil laughter*". There also was a more adult version, but I'll keep this G rated...

Might be alright for a chuckle, maybe even a good movie considering who's working on it, but I won't get too excited. I'll stay open minded on this, see what people who have watched it think first...
